The game is set in the Kingdom of Myrtana, which is under attack by constant orcish invasions. Trouble escalated in the Khorinis mines when a magical experiment, ordered by King Rhobar II, went wrong, transforming the area into a dangerous, lawless land controlled by escaped prisoners. You play as the Nameless Hero, arriving amidst this chaos.
You can battle various criminals and beasts with the revamped combat system
The main objective is to stay alive as you deal with shifting alliances between three competing groups, all trying to break free from the magical barrier surrounding the Colony. Plus, the game is genuinely enjoyable, especially with its improved combat, which lets you battle everything from wild animals to dangerous criminals.
I never had the opportunity to play the original game as a child, and I didn’t own a Switch when the port came out. This release feels like a great way for me to finally experience it. It also looks really good, with controls designed for touchscreens and a classic, nostalgic art style.
The highly anticipated game, Gothic Classic, will be available on iOS devices and consoles later this year. Keep an eye out for more information, as it’s not yet available on the App Store!
