Gorka Marquez quits Strictly: Star confirms he’s leaving the BBC show after 10 years as he ‘hangs up his dance shoes’ in an emotional message amid cast bloodbath

Gorka Marquez has announced his departure from Strictly Come Dancing, just two months after reports surfaced that he might be leaving the show.

Another well-known professional dancer has left the popular show, as producers continue to make big changes before the new season begins. This follows a series of departures this year.

He announced on Instagram on Tuesday that he’s leaving Strictly Come Dancing. He explained that after stepping back last year because of scheduling issues with both Strictly and Dancing With The Stars Spain, he’s decided it’s time to retire from professional dancing.

‘I will always be incredibly grateful to Strictly and the BBC for everything.

Being on the show wasn’t just a job; it completely changed my life. Over the last decade, it helped me turn my hobby into a career, find love, start a family, and create friendships that will last forever.

‘For that, I will forever be thankful.

Even though I’m leaving the main competition, I’m thrilled to join the Strictly Pro Tour this week and stay connected with everyone involved – it’s been a wonderful experience being part of the show.

Now’s the moment to relax and watch the action unfold, and maybe even cheer on the competitors with some high scores!

I’m so grateful for all the support and love everyone has shown me during this amazing experience. And remember to keep dancing!

Graziano Di Prima is leaving Strictly Come Dancing, joining Luba Mushtuk, Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova, and Michelle Tsiakkas as professional dancers who won’t be returning to the show this year.

It’s still unknown who will replace Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly as hosts of Strictly Come Dancing after they leave following the 2025 Christmas special. Show officials haven’t made any announcements yet about their replacements.
