After almost three years, the final installment of Good Omens is almost here. The second season of the witty and imaginative series on Prime Video left viewers with Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) taking a new position in Heaven, while Crowley (David Tennant) refused to join him. This split left fans of their long-standing relationship feeling disappointed.
As revealed in the Season 2 finale, Aziraphale’s latest task is to get Earth ready for the return of Jesus Christ. Now, Prime Video has given fans their first glimpse of what the new Son of God will look like.
Wow, it’s so cool to see Bilal Hasna as Jesus! He’s stepping into the elevator that’s going to bring him down to Earth to meet everyone. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Jesus on the show, though – remember that flashback in episode three where Aziraphale and Crowley were at the crucifixion? That was Adam Bond, and apparently, he’s played Jesus four times! Talk about typecasting! But it’s exciting to see a new face taking on the role for his return.
Prime Video has been releasing small previews leading up to the final episode, which will air on May 13, 2026. Earlier, in February, they shared a brief video clip of the lights being switched on at Aziraphale’s bookstore on Earth.
We don’t yet know exactly what’s in store for Jesus in the show. The first season of Good Omens, which premiered in 2019, covered the entire novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It followed Aziraphale and Crowley as they worked to stop the apocalypse, having both become fond of life on Earth. The second season, released in 2023, sets up a continuation of the story – a sequel that Gaiman and Pratchett unfortunately never had the chance to write before Terry Pratchett’s passing in 2015. This 90-minute final episode will offer a preview of what that unwritten sequel might have been.
The original plan was for a full third season to conclude the show, but those plans shifted when showrunner Neil Gaiman faced sexual assault allegations, which he denies. Following these accusations, Gaiman distanced himself from the series, and the final season was condensed into a single, extended episode.
I’m a huge fan of Good Omens, and I was so excited to hear it will have a total of 13 episodes! We got six in the first season, another six in the second, and then a big finale to wrap everything up. It just feels right for a show that’s always playfully teased the world of superstition and the mystical. While it might not get as many seasons as some hoped, it’s going to give us a wonderfully quirky and beloved series that’s perfect for a weekend binge.
