SRG narrowly defeated Aurora Gaming Turkey with a final score of 3-2 in the second day of the M7 World Championship Knockout Stage.
The second day of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M7 World Championship Knockout Stage started with a match between Selangor Red Giants and Aurora Gaming Turkey. Selangor Red Giants, a top team from Malaysia, is aiming to become a world-class contender. Aurora, meanwhile, wants to continue its winning streak, proving that their unusual team choices can succeed. This match is crucial because the losing team will fall to the lower bracket, where other strong teams are already competing.
Here’s a quick review of the match between SRG and Aurora Gaming Turkey from Day 2 of the M7 World Championship Knockout Stage.
SRG vs Aurora Gaming Turkey: M7 Knockout Stage Day 2 Recap
Game 1
Wow, the Red Giants really surprised everyone in Game 1! They put Innocent on Uranus in the Gold Lane, which was a totally unexpected move. It was pretty obvious they were doing it to shut down Lunar’s Cici and stop her from being too aggressive in team fights. Even though they tried that, Aurora Gaming Turkey actually came out strong early on. Rosa on Zetian was really leading the charge, and they kept putting the pressure on SRG in those early team fights, pushing them back.
SRG started to gain momentum as Muhammad Haqqullah “Sekys” Ahmad’s Yi Sun-shin became increasingly powerful. However, their aggressive, all-or-nothing strategy sometimes led to mistakes, losing them important team fights and allowing Aurora to pull ahead. The turning point came at the 13-minute mark during a fight over the Lord, where SRG lost several players and Aurora took control of the objective, along with crucial kills on SRG’s main damage dealer. This pattern repeated at 18 minutes, as Aurora eliminated four SRG players and quickly pushed to destroy their crystal, winning the first game.
Game 2
The second game was slower and more strategic, with both teams carefully fighting without taking big risks. The turning point came during the fight for the second Turtle, where Rosa expertly controlled Pharsa, helping his team win and severely weakening SRG. By eight minutes in, Aurora had already gotten eight kills and was clearly dominating the map.
Muhammad “Yums” Suhairi had trouble finding opportunities to start fights while playing Chou, often getting stopped before anything could happen. SRG briefly gained an advantage around the 16-minute mark with some important eliminations, but Aurora quickly recovered and took back control by securing the powerful evolved Lord at 18 minutes. SRG managed to stay in the game by winning a crucial team fight, taking out four of Aurora’s players, which allowed them to destroy some of Aurora’s defensive towers and extend the match.
Around 23 minutes into the match, Aurora tried a risky move to steal Lord, but SRG’s Sidar “Tienzy” Menteşe defended successfully with Retribution on Lancelot. This play didn’t work out for Aurora, as their team quickly fell apart. SRG then took advantage, eliminating Aurora’s entire team and using the opportunity to finish the game, tying the series score.
Game 3
Aurora Gaming Turkey played much better in Game 3, quickly taking control against SRG. SRG’s Sekys had a difficult time getting resources in the jungle because of constant attacks from Aurora’s Rosa, who was playing Lunox. Aurora quickly gained an advantage, and within five minutes, they had already destroyed four of SRG’s turrets. They continued to win team fights without losing any players, and after ten minutes, they secured the Lord. Using this advantage, Aurora pushed forward and won the game, regaining the lead in the series.
Game 4
Okay, so in Game 4, I went back to playing Sora in the Gold Lane for my team, SRG. Both sides picked some really strong, offensive heroes, but the start of the game was actually pretty chill – nobody wanted to make a risky play and fall behind. We slowly started to take control by consistently pushing towers, and by around 12 minutes, we’d taken down all of Aurora’s outer towers, leaving their base wide open!
Aurora briefly gained an advantage after SRG pushed too far forward during a siege. But at 16 minutes, Tienzy from Aurora was ambushed, which led to a quick downfall. SRG took advantage, earning more kills and ultimately destroying Aurora’s main crystal to win the fourth game and tie the series, forcing a final, deciding fifth game.
Game 5
The final match of the series saw Aurora focus heavily on pushing their lanes, with Rosa’s Novaria frequently moving around the map to challenge SRG’s control. SRG fought back hard, refusing to lose. The key moment came during a battle over the powerful Lord monster at the 10-minute mark, which SRG won, giving them map control and allowing them to destroy Aurora’s outer towers.
The initial lead quickly grew into a significant advantage. At 14 minutes, a strong push down the middle lane broke through Aurora’s defenses and opened up their base. While Aurora briefly held on, a long and difficult team fight at 16 minutes resulted in their complete defeat. Selangor Red Giants quickly took advantage of this, finishing the game and winning the series 3–2 after a tough battle.
SRG YumS is confident they can go for an M7 championship run
Although Aurora Gaming played very well, they couldn’t defeat the top teams in Malaysian Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports. This victory gave SRG a third-place finish, but Aurora Gaming now faces a difficult path through the lower bracket, where they’ll have to compete against other strong teams.
After their victory over the Turkish team, YumS explained that the team’s confidence received a huge boost. They’re thrilled with their third-place finish, but their ultimate goal is to win the championship. Last year, SRG also placed third in M6, losing to Team Liquid PH with a score of 0-3. It will be exciting to see how well they perform at the upcoming M7 World Championship.
