Free Fire returns to the 2026 Esports World Cup

Garena has announced that Free Fire will be back at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event, called ‘Free Fire at the 2026 Esports World Cup,’ will take place from July 15th to 18th and will include 24 teams from around the world.

The confirmed regional breakdown includes:

  • 8 teams from Southeast Asia
  • 3 teams from Brazil
  • 2 teams each from Latin America and Bangladesh
  • 1 team each from the United States, Pakistan, Nepal, and the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region

More tournament spots will be revealed soon. Excitingly, EVOS Esports, the winners of the 2025 Esports World Cup, will be back to try and win again. The winning team will automatically qualify for the FFWS Global Finals, making the competition in Riyadh even more intense.

Global events expand to 24 teams

A major update for 2026 is the growth of the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals. This year, 24 teams will compete, up from 18 last year. The tournament will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, starting November 6th and will span four action-packed weekends.

Standalone clash squad tournament launches in March 2026

Free Fire is making a big change in 2026 with a new, separate tournament for Clash Squad. Starting in March, this tournament will run independently from the usual FFWS system, creating a focused competitive scene for Clash Squad players. More information about how the tournament will work and which regions will participate will be announced soon.

Free Fire Ramadan Cup 2026 introduced

Garena has revealed the Free Fire Ramadan Cup 2026, an online Battle Royale competition with 18 teams competing for a $25,000 prize. Here’s what to expect from the event:

  • 4 teams from Malaysia
  • 2 teams from Indonesia
  • 6 teams each from Bangladesh and Pakistan

Matches will be played across Bermuda, Purgatory, Alpine, Kalahari, NexTerra, and Solara.

The Knockout Stage takes place from February 21st to 23rd at 4:30 PM GMT+8. Teams will be divided into three groups of six, and after 15 matches, the top 12 will move on to the Grand Final on February 28th at 2:30 PM GMT+8. The final match will be played in the Champion Rush format – the first team to reach 80 points and win a Booyah! will be crowned the champion.

Continued growth of Free Fire esports in the United States

Throughout 2026, Free Fire will keep growing its competitive scene in the United States with a complete yearly circuit. The season kicks off with FFWS USA Spring (March–April), and the winner will qualify for the Esports World Cup.

This is followed by:

  • FFWS USA Summer (May–June)
  • FFWS USA Fall (August–September) is the official qualifier for the FFWS Global Finals
  • FFWS USA Winter (December 2026–January 2027), feeding into the 2027 season

Building on the success of the 2025 Free Fire United States Championship (FFUSC) – which included open in-game qualifying rounds and $30,000 in prizes – Garena plans to keep investing in community-based and local competitions to grow the Free Fire scene in North America.
