Game Of Thrones graduates to the big screen with upcoming film ‘in the works’ at Warner Bros.
As a devoted fan with over a decade of emotional investment in Westeros, this news has me positively giddy! The idea of returning to the world of Game of Thrones, even if only for one cinematic adventure, is like a dragon’s fire in my heart. I can almost hear the haunting theme song echoing through the halls of Winterfell, and it brings a tear (of joy) to my eye.
Fans of Game of Thrones may find themselves engrossed once more in the captivating realm of Westeros, as preparations for an epic premiere seem imminent.
Warner Bros is starting preparations for a movie (or more than one) based on George R.R. Martin’s popular fantasy universe, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.
Even though the project is just starting out and hasn’t yet secured a director, actors, or written script, insiders suggest that Warner Bros. is excited about the prospect of translating the captivating tales of the Seven Kingdoms onto the silver screen, according to reports.
Originally, David Benioff and Dan Weiss conceived wrapping up the series through a cinematic trilogy rather than the 2019 ending, and George R. R. Martin himself suggested the potential of a movie to The Hollywood Reporter as early as 2014.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say that even though some viewers may have had reservations about the last season of Game of Thrones, its unparalleled triumph has given rise to an array of follow-up series, one of which is HBO’s House of Dragons.
The show recently wrapped its second season and has already been greenlit for a third.
After that announcement, fans can anticipate the upcoming prequel titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, which is influenced by George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, scheduled for release next year.
In April, it was revealed that the proposed spin-off sequel centered around Kit Harington’s character, Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, had been put on hold.
I’m absolutely devastated! It seemed like my dream was about to come true when I heard that Kit, aged 37, was set to play the lead in that highly anticipated series. But alas, it appears that the project has been put on hold at HBO/MAX, as per Screen Rant. I just can’t help but feel a deep sense of disappointment and longing for this incredible opportunity to become reality.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my dismay upon learning directly from the British actor himself that the highly anticipated sequel isn’t looking so promising.
‘I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development,’ he explained.
‘I preferred to keep it secret that the project was underway, as I wanted to avoid the situation where people might speculate and either get too enthusiastic or develop negative opinions about it prematurely, since there is no guarantee that it will actually come to fruition.’
He mentioned that during the process of development, all aspects are thoroughly examined to determine if they’re valuable. At this point, however, it seems they’re not.
He explained that since none of us could find a compelling story we were all enthusiastic about, we have temporarily abandoned this idea. In simpler terms, the idea is on hold because we couldn’t find a suitable story to work on together.
At some point down the line, we might revisit it, however, for now, it’s not an option. It’s currently sitting on the shelf, waiting patiently.
According to reports, there wasn’t enough original content available from George R.R. Martin for the continuation of the Jon Snow series after the end of Game of Thrones in 2019, making it difficult to create a coherent storyline.
