French Bitcoin Baron Snags 580 BTC, Reaps 709.8% Whimsy
In a grand display of digital derring-do, The Blockchain Group has seized 580 BTC for €47.3 million, crowing over a 709.8% BTC Yield YTD, solidifying its reign as Europe’s Bitcoin treasury overlord.
The Blockchain Group, nestled in the fair city of Puteaux, France, and vaunted on the Euronext Growth Paris, on the 26th day of March, did declare its acquisition of 580 BTC for a sum near €47.3 million ($50.8 million) through its loyal subsidiary, The Blockchain Group Luxembourg SA. At an average cost of €81,550 per shiny bitcoin, this bold purchase swells the firm’s hoard to 620 BTC, now worth approximately €50.5 million.
Alexandre Laizet, the cunning deputy CEO and maestro of bitcoin tactics at The Blockchain Group, doth proclaim the firm “Europe’s First Bitcoin Treasury Company.” Upon the stage of social media platform X, he did share:
The Blockchain Group hath procured 580 BTC for ~€47.3 million at ~€81,550 per bitcoin and hath achieved a BTC Yield of 709.8% YTD. As of 3/26/2025, we proudly clutch 620 BTC for ~€50.5 million at ~€81,480 per bitcoin.
This grand transaction was sealed through Swissquote Bank Europe SA—a keeper of virtual assets under the watchful eye of Luxembourg’s Commission de surveillance du secteur financier (CSSF)—with the safekeeping provided by the Swiss digital guardians of Taurus. This latest acquisition is but a step in the firm’s march towards becoming a Bitcoin Treasury Company, a strategy unfurled in November 2024.
As part of this quixotic quest, the group hath adopted new measures of success—BTC Yield, BTC Gain, and BTC € Gain—to track the bitcoin bounty per share and its growth in bitcoin terms, casting aside the old ways of financial returns. By the company’s reckoning, a 709.8% BTC Yield hath been reaped year-to-date, signifying a theoretical increase of 283.9 bitcoin and a euro-based profit of €23.15 million. These metrics doth judge the company’s bitcoin treasure relative to its share structure.
Microstrategy, now known as Strategy, doth also employ BTC Yield and BTC Gain as measures of its bitcoin hoarding prowess. The esteemed Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, upon hearing Laizet’s boasts on X, did respond:
BTC Yield, BTC Gain, and BTC € Gain hath graced the shores of France.
Laizet, with a heart full of gratitude, did thank Saylor for his bitcoin wisdom, acknowledging the influence of Metaplanet sages like Dylan LeClair and Gerovich. “Merci! Thank you for your example, @saylor! It is an honour for us to follow in your footsteps as well as those of @DylanLeClair and @gerovich,” Laizet wrote, with emojis of a smiling face and a heart.
