Fox Officially Cancels Going Dutch After Season 2 Finale

The military comedy has been canceled. Fox has decided not to renew the show for a third season.

Fox has canceled the comedy series Going Dutch after two seasons. The cancellation was announced two weeks after the Season 2 finale aired on April 23th, which will now be the show’s last episode. This news comes right before Fox presents its plans for the 2026-27 TV season to advertisers.

Fox Loses Another Live-Action Comedy

The show will continue airing on Fox, having been renewed for a fifth season earlier this year. Fox will still broadcast its popular animated comedies – including The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, American Dad!, and Family Guy – when they return this fall. The network remains dedicated to unscripted shows too, like game and reality TV, and has ordered a full season of Whitney Cummings’ new dating show, The Marriage Market, for next year.

The show Going Dutch was created by Joel Church-Cooper, who also oversaw the series with Hilary Winston. The cast included comedian and actor, as well as Danny Pudi (known from Community), Taylor Misiak (Dave), Laci Mosley (Florida Girls), Hal Cumpston (The Artful Dodger), Dempsey Bryk (Willow), Catherine Tate (The Office), and Kristen Johnston (Mom).

Dennis Leary has high praise for his co-stars on the show, particularly Taylor Misiak, who plays his daughter. He calls her a star and raves about the entire cast, including Hal Cumpston and Laci Mosely, describing them as incredibly strong performers. Leary shared that Tate Donovan often improvised hilarious scenes with a Dutch accent, frequently making him laugh so hard he’d forget his lines.

Denis Leary Led the Ensemble Cast

Dennis Leary stars as Colonel Patrick Quinn, an army officer sent to a little-used base in the Netherlands after a public outburst. The base isn’t really needed for any serious military work, making it a comfortable assignment. The show follows Quinn as he attempts to turn a group of unlikely soldiers into a functional unit, all while dealing with a strained relationship with his daughter, who used to run the base (played by Misiak).

Critics generally liked Going Dutch, giving it an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers, however, had a more divided opinion, with a score of 54%. While ratings weren’t consistent, they were often low and didn’t improve much in the second season. This likely contributed to the show’s cancellation, which is disappointing for longtime fans.

Though Going Dutch won’t be renewed for another season, viewers can still enjoy the show’s existing two seasons by…
