Fortnite’s future battle pass-exclusive skins may be sold in the store

As a dedicated Fortnite player with countless hours spent battling it out on the virtual battlefield, I must say that Epic Games’ recent announcement about Battle Pass exclusives has me feeling a bit conflicted. On one hand, the idea of being able to purchase exclusive skins and items that were previously only available through the Battle Pass is certainly appealing, reducing that dreaded fear of missing out.

As a devoted Fortnite fan, I’ve got some exciting and somewhat bittersweet news for us all: Epic Games has shared plans to make some exclusive Battle Pass skins and items that appear in future seasons available for purchase within the game store. This move aims to alleviate the anxiety of missing out on these limited-time items, but it also means that the thrill of obtaining them won’t be quite as unique.

On the Fortnite blog, Epic Games has announced that certain items from future Battle Passes could become available for purchase in the Fortnite Shop at least 18 months following the Battle Pass’s expiration date. Even though this 18-month period represents a significant amount of exclusivity for Battle Pass items, and Epic doesn’t guarantee that all exclusive items will eventually be sold individually, it’s good news for Fortnite enthusiasts who might miss out on popular “exclusive” items in the upcoming years.

Epic Games has announced that they will be making changes to the exclusivity of their battle pass content. This adjustment allows them to keep developing fresh and engaging rewards for the Battle Pass, while also giving players access to these items in the future, such as outfits inspired by well-known licensed characters. Additionally, this move provides Epic with an opportunity to generate additional income from skins that are sold outside of the battle pass, which retails at 950 V-Bucks or $8.49.

It seems Epic Games doesn’t seem to be offering access to past Battle Pass exclusives like the Darth Vader or Raven skins. Unfortunately, if you missed out, that’s all there is for now regarding their Battle Pass offerings. When reached for comment, an Epic representative shared no additional insights into future Battle Pass plans beyond what was already announced on their official blog.

It’s possible that some previously seasonal exclusives from the past may become available again. On Tuesday, Epic Games unexpectedly brought back a Fortnite Season X skin from 2019 – The Paradigm – in their in-game store, which they referred to as an “unintended return to the shop.”
