Like Christopher Reeve, Nicolas Cage is one of the actors who has portrayed Superman in a live-action film. Although he was cast to star in a Superman movie called Superman Lives, the project was ultimately canceled after a difficult development process. Years later, in 2023, Cage finally got to play Superman in a brief appearance in the movie The Flash, which featured a multiverse storyline inspired by the Flashpoint comic book event. In The Flash, Cage’s Superman even got to have the fight with the giant spider that was planned for his original, unreleased film.

The Superman from that film showed up in a scene featuring multiple universes and heroes. This included a digitally created version of Christopher Reeve’s Superman, who ultimately stood alongside Helen Slater’s Supergirl.
