As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement upon hearing the news of Hideaki Itsuno’s return to game development. His legendary work on series like Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma has shaped my own gaming journey in profound ways.

After spending over three decades with Capcom, creating legendary games such as Devil May Cry 3, 4, and 5, Dragon’s Dogma and its sequel, Power Stone, Rival Schools, and many others, I, Hideaki Itsuno, have made a comeback to the thrilling world of game development.

Isao (Itsuno) will spearhead the Japanese division of recently acquired Tencent’s LightSpeed Studios, where he will focus on top-tier (AAA) projects from their Tokyo and Osaka offices, describing this as a “thrilling new phase” in his post-Capcom professional journey.

In a statement about his new position, Itsuno expressed enthusiasm about leveraging LightSpeed’s robust development abilities and worldwide connections to collaborate with an exceptional team in crafting unique AAA action game titles. He also looks forward to designing captivating and inventive experiences that will resonate with the global player community.

He invited all dedicated and skilled game developers from around the globe to share in our creative vision instead.

LightSpeed Studios president Jerry Chen adds that Itsuno’s appointment as head of LightSpeed Japan Studio is a “significant step” in the studio’s overall expansion, demonstrating its “commitment to bringing the best possible games to our players.”

We’re kicking off a new chapter at Lightspeed! Excited to work alongside an exceptional team, we’re creating the next AAA title. Looking forward to offering a stunning and innovative experience to players worldwide. Global recruitment has begun! Please join us! 🚀
