Former best friends Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato reunite for the first time in nearly 10 years

Selena Gomez made a special trip to Orlando, Florida on Monday to be there for her longtime friend Demi Lovato at the start of her 18-city It’s Not That Deep Tour.

The two pop stars, both age 33, hadn’t seen each other since they were photographed together at the InStyle Awards in Los Angeles in 2017.

Okay, so I was there, and let me tell you, Selena Gomez was completely showing her support for Demi! She wasn’t just any fan though – she was in the VIP section, and get this, she actually bought and was wearing the ‘It’s Not That Deep’ hoodie from Demi’s merch table! I almost died, it was the cutest, most supportive thing ever! I have pictures, obviously.

Selena Gomez, with over 608 million followers on social media, publicly praised Demi Lovato after attending her show. Gomez shared six Instagram stories expressing how moved she was, writing that she was crying and calling Lovato’s performance ‘one of the best’ with vocals that were ‘blown away.’

Lovato responded with joyful tear emojis and a message on Instagram saying, ‘Thank you for coming! It was great to see you.’

The millennials who were homeschooled first gained recognition in 2002 when they began playing Angela and Gianna on the popular children’s television program, Barney & Friends.

In 2009, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato both appeared in the Disney Channel comedy Princess Protection Program, directed by Allison Liddi-Brown.

Around 2014, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez drifted apart. Lovato later told Harper’s Bazaar in 2020 that while they were no longer friends, she still felt a lot of affection for Gomez.

The singer, originally from New Mexico, recently stated that during the early 2000s, Disney Channel frequently created competition between her and the actress from Texas.

Lovato shared on the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast that it’s common to feel insecure when you’re young, which often leads to comparing yourself to others.

‘But one thing my mom instilled in me was, “There’s room for everyone. It’s not a competition.”

I really held onto that belief, and it helped me get through a tough time. I always wanted everyone to succeed.

Last August, Selena Gomez, who produces and stars in “Only Murders in the Building,” mentioned on Jake Shane’s “Therapuss” podcast that she was happy to see her childhood friends, like Demi Lovato, continuing to pursue their careers.

A month after the initial reports, the actress from ‘Tow’ appeared on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ and described Selena Gomez as ‘very kind.’ She also expressed her happiness for Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco on September 27th, and praised their song, ‘Bluest Flame’.

Demi Lovato’s husband, Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes, who used to be her backup singer, was in the audience on Monday. He shared on Instagram how incredibly proud he was, saying he’d never seen a better performance and that Demi is a true legend.

I’m completely blown away by you and I’ll always be talking about how amazing you are. I love you so much, Demi!

The couple, who are rarely apart, will celebrate their first anniversary on May 25th, but unfortunately, they’ll be in different states. He’s scheduled to perform in Amsterdam, while she’ll be performing in Texas.

Lovato first connected with the 35-year-old Canadian while working on her album, Holy Fvck, in 2022.

During her time backstage, the Grammy-nominated singer also saw her ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas, and they even performed a couple of songs together at the Kia Forum.

Demi Lovato is an executive producer on ‘Camp Rock 3,’ a new musical featuring the Jonas Brothers, set to debut this summer on Disney+.

Hey everyone! As many of you know, I’m juggling a lot – from writing books like ‘One Plate at a Time’ to creating music! I’m so excited to share that my new song, ‘Low Rise Jeans,’ is coming out this Friday. And if you’re in the DC area, I’d love to see you! I’m bringing my ‘It’s Not That Deep’ tour to Capital One Arena this Thursday. It’s going to be a fun night!

Demi Lovato nearly died in 2018 from a heroin and fentanyl overdose at her Hollywood Hills home, which is valued at $8.3 million.

The singer of ‘Here All Night’ experienced a heart attack and three strokes, which resulted in legal blindness, hearing loss, and brain damage.

Demi Lovato, a singer with an impressive four-octave vocal range, has released nine studio albums. All of them have reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and have collectively been streamed over 50 billion times around the world.
