For All Mankind Season 5 Premieres in March
The highly anticipated new season is arriving more than two years after the last one ended in January 2024. It will have ten episodes, concluding on May 29th. Over the past five seasons, For All Mankind has moved forward in time, starting in the late 1960s and now nearing the present day. Season 4 ended in 2012, bringing the show closer and closer to our current reality. Because the show jumps forward in time, the differences between its alternate history and what actually happened become increasingly clear – humanity achieves much more, much faster, within the series. Season 5 will continue to explore this contrast as the competition in space continues.
Following the dramatic asteroid theft from last season, tensions are rising and a war may be coming. Fans can also look forward to more of the story, as Season 6 of For All Mankind is already being planned and will begin filming later this year. Plus, a new series called Star City is in the works, though it doesn’t have a release date yet.

As a space and history buff, I’m completely hooked on For All Mankind. What really grabs you is the ‘what if?’ scenario it presents. It kicks off in 1969, but with a twist – the Soviets beat the US to the moon! From there, it’s fascinating to watch how that single change ripples outwards, creating a totally different timeline. The show cleverly plays with what we think we know about history, constantly surprising you with how things unfold in unexpected ways. It’s just a really smart and engaging take on the space race.
Despite not receiving as much attention as major franchises like Star Wars and Star Trek, this series is consistently excellent. It boasts strong writing and incredible visual effects that were previously unattainable for television. With a 92% critic score and an 82% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s clear the show is a success, even if it’s not the most widely known sci-fi program right now.
As a total space race buff, I’ve been completely hooked on For All Mankind. What I love is how it reimagines history – it’s not just about what happened, but what could have happened. The show’s been steadily gaining fans, and honestly, I can’t wait to see where it goes next. It’s finally moving beyond the familiar historical events and heading into a present day that’s wildly different from our own, which is a really exciting prospect.
