Channel 4 has released the first image from its upcoming 1980s drama, The Siege. The series is based on the popular book by Ben Macintyre and is being produced by Will Smith, known for his work on Slow Horses.
Danny Dyer, who’s currently starring in the second season of Disney’s popular show Rivals, is playing a police officer. We’re now getting a first glimpse of him in character, wearing the full uniform.
The well-known British actor, famous for his role in EastEnders, will be playing PC Trevor Lock in a new drama based on a true story. Lock is being hailed as a hero, and he played a crucial part in the real-life siege that the show depicts.

Dyer recently told Virgin Radio (as reported by Female First) that he was thrilled to finally land the role of ‘Old Bill’.
He shared his enthusiasm for the role, explaining that he was thrilled to play a genuinely heroic character. The man he portrays is simply someone who goes out of his way to help others – like assisting elderly women crossing the street or saving cats – and unexpectedly finds himself in a perilous predicament.

Channel 4 calls The Siege a thrilling and suspenseful story featuring a diverse group of people unexpectedly united by an impossible conflict.
I’m really excited about this new series! It’s set in 1980s London and tells the story of when a group took 26 people hostage at the Iranian embassy. From what I’ve read, it’s all about the tense struggle to regain control – the police were involved, but it sounds like the SAS really stepped in with a risky plan to end the siege, and the whole thing was broadcast for the world to see. It’s going to be intense!

Channel 4 describes the upcoming series as a blend of suspense, emotional depth, thoughtful commentary, and wit. It will depict a crucial time in history when both Britain and the world were on edge.
Channel 4’s Ian Katz previously described the show as a tense and moving thriller. It explores the surprising reasons behind the actions of the hostage-takers and shows the very human side of what happened inside the embassy while the world watched and British special forces prepared for a dangerous operation.
Alongside Jasper Dyer, “The Siege” features David Morrissey, known for his roles in “Sherwood” and “Daddy Issues,” and Motaz Malhees, who has appeared in “The Voice of Hind Rajab” and “200 Metres.”
I was stoked to see the cast list for this! It’s got some seriously talented actors I recognize – Kevin Doyle from Happy Valley, Alexej Manvelov who was great in Dept Q, Stephen Campbell Moore from The Gold, Alex Jennings who I loved in The Crown, and even Asim Chaudhry, best known from People Just Do Nothing. It’s a pretty awesome group, honestly.
The Siege is coming to Channel 4.
