Fashion’s Favorite Climbing-Inspired Sneaker Has an American-Built Update

The KEEN Jasper KM Lite is a new, American-made shoe that’s designed to be both lightweight and responsibly produced. Originally launched in 2008 as a climbing-inspired sneaker for the outdoors, the Jasper has been updated with a sleeker, more modern look while still offering excellent comfort and durability. The design now features smoother lines and less noticeable stitching, and the heel is seamlessly integrated into the sole. These subtle changes allow the Jasper to transition easily from hiking trails to city streets, making it versatile for any environment.

The Jasper KM shoe comes in three colors for men: Canteen/Black, Khaki/Birch, and Black/Steel Grey. Women can choose from Granite Green/Black, Cameo Rose/Black, Plaza Taupe/Birch, and Brindle/Birch. A lighter, Mary Jane-style version, the Jasper KM Lite MJ, is also available for women. This variety of colors and styles lets everyone wear the shoe for both everyday use and more fashionable outfits.

Following the April release of the KEEN Made Classics line, KEEN introduces KEEN Made Originals this May, focusing on a popular shoe style. The Jasper has become a favorite among those who love outdoor-inspired fashion, thanks to collaborations with brands like Engineered Garments, Hiking Patrol, 18 East, and Gramicci, and it continues to gain popularity.

KEEN has been manufacturing shoes in the US since 2009, starting with its factory in Oregon. Recently, the company moved operations to a new facility in Kentucky to improve shipping and, more importantly, to increase its commitment to responsible manufacturing. This new Kentucky location led to the creation of KEEN Made, a new line of sneakers built with carefully chosen materials and innovative construction techniques. These shoes are designed to be more durable, comfortable, and have a smaller impact on the environment.

The Jasper KM Lite looks simple, but it’s packed with features designed for comfort and sustainability. It includes bouncy Trampoleen cushioning, KEEN.FUSION technology that bonds the shoe together without harsh chemicals, and materials sourced responsibly – using Better Cotton Initiative cotton and leather from gold-rated tanneries. This all adds up to a shoe that’s not only comfortable to wear, but also made with careful consideration for the environment.

KEEN is committed to making durable, high-quality shoes, and owning their factories allows them to maintain that dedication, according to Scott Labbe, Senior VP of Product and Innovation. Their Kentucky factory, in particular, is bringing traditional shoemaking back as a craft, employing skilled local workers who are passionate about creating premium footwear.

The Jasper KM Lite, a key shoe from the KEEN Made Originals line, will be available starting May 1st at keenfootwear.com, KEEN Garages, and a few select stores.
