Famous Landmarks In Oblivion Remastered And Why They’re Important
Summary
- The “Seeking Your Roots” quest helps players locate Nirnroot, revealing its value and where to find more.
- Dragonclaw Rock is essential for the quest “Lifting the Viel,” offering more than meets the eye.
- Cloud Top is picturesque and home to the Mages Guild and the quest “Finger of the Mountain” with Earana.
There’s a wealth of sights and activities to experience in this city, not just the numerous missions, loot to gather, and dungeons to conquer. The rich history and mythology of this game series is vast, and there are many intriguing landmarks to uncover, each offering historical significance and visual charm.
As a seasoned gamer delving into Oblivion Remastered, I’ve come across some extraordinary spots that are either linked to quests or Daedric lore, or simply offer a unique, engaging experience. Folks who’ve ventured through other Bethesda realms, like Morrowind, Skyrim, or Fallout, will likely recognize these iconic locales or the characters tied to them.
7. Shadeleaf Copse
The Magic Of Nirnroot

- Location: Northeast of Skingrad.
In the heart of the forest lies a tranquil woodland haven, characterized by a picturesque pond and scattered Nirnroot plants. This idyllic spot is sustained by unique herbs, and to help adventurers discover it, there’s a helpful NPC named Sinderion in Skingrad who can highlight its location on the map during the “Seeking Your Roots” quest.
In simpler terms, “Discovering Your Roots” gets initiated when a player first collects Nirnroot, a unique plant that emits a high-pitched noise, aiding in their location. The area known as Shadeleaf Copse helps the player understand that this beneficial and valuable plant thrives near water sources. Consequently, when Sinderion requests 20 more of it, the player will be able to locate them easily due to this knowledge.
6. Dragonclaw Rock
Find The Draconian Madstone

- Location: At the end of the road that leads north past Bruma.
Most players will discover this mission when Countless Narina Carvain dispatches them to retrieve the Draconian Madstone for the quest “Lifting the Veil.” To those unfamiliar with its appearance, Dragonclaw Rock appears as a heap of debris; however, from an elevated vantage point, it resembles a massive dragon’s claw.
Here, you’ll find an underground passage leading to Pale Pass and the Countess’ hidden store of her stolen items. When these belongings are restored, she’ll be more willing to assist a traveler in purchasing a property within this region. For those eager to delve deeper into the unknown, the path northward extends beyond this notable landmark, though it won’t appear on your map. This route is less developed, but it stretches along the northern coastline, reaching Frostcrag Point and ultimately Cheydinhal.
5. Gnoll Mountain
The Road To Frostcrag Spire

- Location: In the Jerrel Mountains between Bruma and Cheydinhal.
Gnoll Mountain, being the highest natural landmark in Cyrodil, is a must-visit for those who appreciate breathtaking vistas and capturing stunning images. For players with the Wizard’s Tower DLC, an even more elevated viewpoint awaits when they discover and customize their own magical wizard stronghold, Frostcrag Spire, which is conveniently situated nearby.
Besides offering stunning views or concealing a solitary sorcerer with a disdain for humanity, there are several other activities up here that might interest you, particularly if you’re part of the Dark Brotherhood. The quest “The Coldest Sleep” takes you to a secluded campsite nearby, where a rebellious Nord is seeking judgment for some regrettable decisions in life.
4. Cloud Top
Connected To The Chorrol Mages Guild

- Location: In the hills northwest of Chorrol.
At this beautiful spot lies another captivating location brimming with stunning vistas. However, individuals who are part of the Mages Guild may find themselves here for a quest entitled “Finger of the Mountain.” This adventure initiates within the Mages guild in Chorrol, where an NPC called Teekeeus expresses concerns about an ex-Mage causing trouble around town. The player encounters Earana, and they have the option to join her in a battle over a misplaced book, standing by her side in this conflict.
Regardless of whom the player chooses to consult prior to concluding their quest, they must first secure Earana’s notes for making an informed decision. After that, you can head back to Cloud Top and perform some intricate rituals to learn the Finger of the Mountain spell, which can inflict 200 points of Shock damage at Mastery level.
3. Old Bridge
Nirnroot And Dead Drops

- Location: Follow the red Ring Road south of the Imperial City.
Riding south of the Imperial City offers an enjoyable and picturesque journey, perfect for collecting Nirnroot during leisure moments before tackling the Dark Brotherhood’s mission, titled “Final Justice.” This mission presents an opportunity to eliminate a highly dangerous and disturbed individual.
The specifics about the task are concealed under the Old Bridge, a clue that only members of the secretive group can discover. The objective is to eliminate Shaleez, who has taken refuge in the nearby Flooded Mine. Although it isn’t fully submerged, navigating the water there becomes simpler with a water-breathing potion or magical equipment, as she tends to ambush her targets while underwater.
2. Harcane Grove
Hircine And The Unicorn

- Location: North of Bravil, east of the Inn of Ill Omen.
For individuals who haven’t already ventured into the Dark Brotherhood or discovered the Ill Omen Inn, you can locate Harcane Grove to the north of Bravil. This secluded area is where Cyrodiil’s legendary unicorn resides. Although it’s protected by three aggressive minotaurs, they will only confront the player if a weapon is drawn.
There’s a mission to eliminate a Unicorn, provided by Hircine’s Daedric quest. This creature is quite challenging to defeat, particularly for players without any magical weapons. The quest can only begin at level 17, once the player has paid their respects to Hircine at their Daedric shrine. This shrine can be found in a forest south of the Imperial City.
1. Mouth Of The Panther
Put The Forlorn Watchman To Rest

- Location: South of Bravil, at the mouth of the Panther River.
People in Bravil will share with the player that there’s a spooky apparition roaming along the coast near the city ramparts at night. Venture out there under the cover of darkness, and you’ll encounter this specter who will recount a melancholic tale about the Mouth of the Panther and his past life as a mariner. This is the name of a bay southeast of Bravil, where it houses a wrecked ship, the Emma May, and it’s there that The Forlorn Watchman remains, waiting to be laid to rest for good.
In a different phrase, we find that the spectral figure haunting the post is named Blakely. Upon recovering his corpse, this spirit returns and provides the protagonist with a map to the substantial treasure trove onboard the ship. Besides a wealth of gold, there are also precious gems, jewelry, and one unpredictable magical artifact among the finds.
