The film is due to be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 13 June.

The synopsis states that the movie “Lollipop” follows the narrative of a woman named Molly (Sterling), who has just been released from prison after serving four months, and believes it will only take a short time before she can get her children back from foster care.

As a fan, I find myself stuck in an impossible situation, reminiscent of the infamous catch-22. I’m unable to secure housing because my children aren’t residing with me, yet I can’t bring them back home unless I have a place to live first. It’s like trying to catch wind – the more I reach for it, the farther it seems to elude me.

When Molly meets up with her old friend Amina (Idil Ahmed), another single mom, they decide to unite and seize control of their own futures. The story’s ending indicates that the movie showcases an exceptional central role by Sterling.

Featuring Teriann Cousins and Tegan-Mia Stanley Rhoads, the film Lollipop is reportedly based on “realness and personal experiences,” delving into topics such as discovering happiness amidst adversity and summoning the strength to defend those you care about.

After debuting at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August, the drama earned favorable critiques from critics.

Beyond the accolades from The Herald previously cited, Eye For Film also commended Hudson for handling the subject matter with a “tender touch” and “great reverence”.

According to TimeOut and The Skinny, the show is so captivating that one might not even notice the unique aspect of it: every adult character, ranging from officials to shopkeepers, is portrayed by women, with Sterling receiving praise for her outstanding performance.

Lollipop is released in cinemas on 13 June.
