Prime Video subscribers can now stream the recent thriller The Running Man. The Glen Powell action movie, which was in theaters last year, unexpectedly became available on the service today at no extra cost.
Since this is a Paramount film, many expected it to initially stream on Paramount+ in the UK, similar to how it launched in the US. However, it seems Prime Video will be the first place UK viewers can watch it.
Based on the 1982 novel by Stephen King – and previously a film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger – The Running Man takes place in a controlling future society. The show of the same name forces contestants to evade hunters for a full month to survive.

Ben Richards, played by Powell, joins the show hoping to get help for his seriously ill daughter. He unexpectedly becomes very popular with viewers, which creates problems for those in charge.
Both The Telegraph and Empire praised The Running Man. The Telegraph gave it a five-star review, calling it exhilarating and comparing the lead actor to Tom Cruise. Empire described it as a sharply satirical film that’s also highly entertaining.

According to USA Today, Edgar Wright’s Running Man is a fast-paced and satirical take on today’s reality TV, the dangers of surveillance technology, societal divides, and the growing gap between rich and poor – all delivered with plenty of action, gore, and a quirky sense of humor.
While many enjoyed the film, some critics didn’t. Time Out described it as frantic and overcaffeinated, suggesting it felt like a movie trying to compensate for a bad start with excessive energy.

According to The Independent, what should feel like a deeply painful, shattering experience instead feels like a gentle nudge. All the necessary elements for a strong emotional impact are present, but the writing lacks a sense of immediacy or urgency.
Alongside Woody Harrelson, The Running Man features a talented cast including Josh Brolin (known for Dune), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Lee Pace (Foundation), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and Emilia Jones (CODA).
The Running Man is streaming now on Prime Video in the UK.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour magazine celebrating Taylor Swift, is now available! You can find it in newsagents or purchase it online for only £8.99.
