Euphoria vet Barbie Ferreira flashes her figure after shedding 50lbs: ‘I gain weight, I lose weight, that’s just my life’

Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira has shown off her incredible 50lb weight loss again.

A striking brunette model appears in satin bras in the latest issue of Bustle magazine, which came out on Thursday.

But the actress told the publication that she does not like being asked about her changing figure.

The actress, who won’t be returning for the third season of Euphoria but plans to watch it, explained that weight fluctuations are common in her family, making it a difficult topic.

The actress, starring in the new films ‘Faces of Death’ and ‘Mile End Kicks,’ began modeling at age 16 and has changed her look frequently over the past ten years. She avoids discussing her body, especially now that there’s so much focus on women’s appearances.

Women constantly face scrutiny and commentary about their appearances, and it feels like a no-win situation.

Honestly, I’ve been following her for ages, and it’s just… frustrating to see people obsess over this! She was saying, basically, that if she tries to be anything other than herself – too thin, too heavy – she loses what makes her her. We all change, right? I mean, I fluctuate, she fluctuates, it’s just life! It’s like, can’t people just let her be? She didn’t expect everyone to zoom in on every little thing, and honestly, it’s a bit much.

She explained that people have been commenting on her weight since she was a teenager. She recalled being criticized even back when she first started using Tumblr at age 14, while still living with her mother.

It’s natural that I’ve changed how I look. I used to talk a lot about body positivity because I felt I had to, and people were constantly asking me about my activism, even when I was young.

She explained that she was new to all of this at the time. She didn’t even understand what being an activist meant. She recalled a situation where simply appearing in a campaign wearing a bikini caused an uproar, and people started calling her an activist. At 17, she just went along with it, thinking, “If that’s what people want, I’ll be an activist.”

I don’t see that as genuine activism, though. True activism, to me, means committing your life to fighting for something you believe in. I simply think people deserve to be portrayed accurately in the media, and that’s what I strive to do with my work.

She enjoyed the compliments she received after losing weight, but it also made her uneasy, like she was being judged based on her appearance.

She explained that unhealthy eating habits often persist because people are concerned about how they appear to others. It’s interesting that people rarely compliment someone who’s gained weight, instead of offering positive feedback. She actually thinks a lot of people would look even better if they gained a little weight!

I constantly receive comments about my appearance. Whether I’m playing a role or just being myself, the attention always ends up on my body, and it feels like something I just have to accept.

She then said that when she feels overwhelmed, she hides.

The TV star shared that when stressed, they prefer to stay home and recharge. They enjoy a quiet life and don’t feel the need to be extravagant, though they do make an exception for the Renaissance Faire, which they attend annually. They love dressing up in costume and enjoying the simple, wholesome entertainment, explaining that they felt they had to grow up quickly.

She also worries about how fans can sometimes force actresses to minimize their natural charisma.

According to Ferreira, Jennifer Lawrence was often criticized despite being a naturally funny and down-to-earth person.

She explained that in her profession, women are frequently expected to downplay their presence. She strives to remain authentic, even when it draws criticism, saying people sometimes react negatively to her confidence. She jokingly described herself as simply ‘a degree’ of warmth, implying she isn’t trying to be anything more than herself.

I’m a very expressive person, especially when I’m performing. I usually let my personality shine through in more intimate settings, like podcasts with friends.

As far as fame, she said it is a shock to her.

Growing up outside of the typical Hollywood scene and as a Brazilian, I’ve always been a huge enthusiast of movies, television, and music. It’s a completely different experience being the one creating the content now, rather than just enjoying it as a fan, she explained.

It’s strange when you finally meet someone you’ve imagined being for a long time, because the reality is often different from what you expected. Because of that, I generally try to avoid meeting people whose work I admire.

When it comes to her love life she said she has never dated an actor.

I’m used to dating down-to-earth people. What I look for is genuine personality and a real life, not just someone famous. Growing up as an immigrant in New York, I saw people work incredibly hard to improve their lives, and that shaped me. I’m not interested in dating the ‘flavor of the month,’ and I definitely wouldn’t want a relationship just for publicity. I admire Tilda Swinton and aspire to have that kind of authenticity, the star explained.

The 29-year-old actress appeared in the first two seasons of the popular HBO series before departing in 2022. She later explained her decision, stating she didn’t want to be typecast as the character known as ‘the fat best friend’.

In a recent interview, she stated she has no insider knowledge about the upcoming season of Euphoria and plans to watch it with everyone else when it airs.

I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, but I plan to. I’m really curious about how the story develops and I especially like the female characters. It seems like the actors are only given the parts of the script that affect them, so I don’t think anyone knows the full picture.

Now she has two new films coming out.

Ferreira mentioned that their film ‘Faces of Death’ was made quite some time ago, while ‘Mile End Kicks’ was completed about a year and a half ago. They found it amusing that both films were being released in the same week. Despite working on both projects simultaneously, Ferreira said the films are so distinct that it wasn’t difficult to keep them separate.
