He gets locked in a coffin and buried alive – they even left a tiny breathing hole, which felt almost crueler. Just when you think maybe, maybe he’ll be saved, a rattlesnake slithers in and delivers the final, fatal bite. It was a shocking and genuinely disturbing way to end his story – by the time they dug him up, it was far too late.
During an interview with Domingo, Elordi explained his intense preparation for a role, describing how he spent two days locked in a coffin with prosthetics and a fake tongue, unable to see. He also revealed that the director, Sam Levinson, added snakes to the coffin as part of the experience.
Elordi Says Sam Levinson Brought Him Back to “Torture” Him
Sam Levinson’s show Euphoria originally featured Jacob Elordi as a troubled high school bully. Now, in Season 3, which is set five years later, Nate is getting married to Cassie (Sydney Sweeney). However, Nate’s business isn’t doing well financially, and Cassie wants an expensive $50,000 floral arrangement for their wedding. Desperate, Nate borrows money from a dangerous man, but when he can’t repay the loan, he finds himself in serious trouble.
Throughout the series, Elordi’s character is constantly either fleeing a gangster or suffering brutal consequences – often involving injury to his feet – because he owes money. It was common for his character, Nate, to be attacked and seriously harmed in almost every episode.
On Jimmy Kimmel, Jacob Elordi joked that his Euphoria co-star, Sam Levinson, intentionally cast him in a physically demanding role to make things difficult. He described spending six weeks being relentlessly challenged by a much larger actor, and said he spent the whole time just trying to avoid getting hit.
Elordi took the role in good humor, joking that filming was actually “so much fun because you don’t have any lines.” He playfully imitated the character Nate’s signature screams, adding, “That’s all you have to do. It’s great!”
Following the audience’s reaction to Nate’s death, Jacob Elordi jokingly thanked them, pointing out the irony that after years of fans expressing their dislike for the character – even calling for his death online, which he was aware of – they now seemed upset.
Elordi revealed that for his last scene, the director, Levinson, had a real boa constrictor placed inside the coffin with him and left it there during filming. Elordi said he wasn’t bothered by it.
The actor described the snake as having a surprisingly gentle personality. He explained that the snake was calm and sleepy, and that he actually had to gently encourage it to be more active for the scene. Despite being supposed to play a threatening role, the snake was very docile, almost like a puppy, and kept curling up at his feet.
In response, Domingo laughed and said, “Nope, I couldn’t do that.”
Euphoria Changed Elordi’s Life
Overall, Elordi expressed gratitude for how much Euphoria boosted his career. He shared that he was completely out of work before the show, constantly going to auditions and hoping to get cast in something.
