In simpler terms, Fern Britton shared the key moment that led to her losing 5 stones, as seen in a beautiful new photo session for Woman&Home magazine.

The well-liked hostess, aged 67, has consistently shared her battles with weight, moving from a size 12 to a size 22 and back again throughout her career.

Currently, in a fresh and open conversation, Fern reminisced about the impactful instance that motivated her to regain command over her wellbeing once more.

She informed the publication: “Frequently, people question if significant weight loss was achieved naturally. In your case, I can confidently affirm that, yes, it was.

18 months ago, I underwent a shoulder replacement surgery, and approximately 2.5 years ago, when I consulted the surgeon, he informed me that he was going to replace my entire shoulder and scheduled another appointment for a year later. At that time, I felt it was necessary to regain control of my life.

It’s time for me to quit smoking, cut back on alcohol, manage my diet better, and get out of the habit of spending too much time in bed dwelling on negative feelings.

I embarked on the journey of Couch to 5k, significantly reduced my sugar intake by approximately 80%, and for the first time ever, began to mindfully consider what I was putting into my body.

Growing up, I found myself constantly craving sugar, which eventually led to a significant sugar dependence. I never seemed to possess the self-control to say no when it came to consuming more than enough.

It’s quite surprising that I finally noticed the benefits after following advice I’ve heard for 60 years – eating three balanced meals each day.

Fern incorporates exercise into her daily routine. She visits the gym when her daughter Grace, who works as a nurse, isn’t on duty – they attend a morning class together at 6am. Additionally, Fern enjoys cycling and plans to restart the Couch to 5K program.

In another part of the conversation, the host spoke candidly about reaching the age of 70 and expressed her belief that it’s important for her health to maintain it well, as a responsibility she owes to her children.

In her first marriage to Clive Jones, Fern is the mother of twins, Harry and Jack (age 31), as well as a daughter named Grace (age 27). Apart from that, she has another daughter, Winnie (age 23), with Phil Vickery.

She said: ‘I’m just two years off 70 so it’s very real. I can’t believe it, actually!

Occasionally, I find myself feeling more fatigued than usual, especially when tending to my garden, and I often ponder, ‘This is quite heavy.’

1. Original Sentence: “I used to be able to lift that.”

“In the past, I was capable of lifting it.” or “Previously, I could lift that.” or “Back then, I had the strength to lift it.”

2. Original Sentence: “It is my duty to stay as healthy as I can for the sake of my children.”

“I must make an effort to remain healthy for the benefit of my kids.” or “My responsibility is to keep myself in good health for the well-being of my children.” or “For the sake of my kids, I need to do what it takes to stay healthy.”

The star went on, expressing that he didn’t want them to feel remorseful for not visiting him or anxious about his health. What mattered most was demonstrating that he was thriving independently.

Since splitting from TV chef Phil (age 63) in 2020, following 20 years together, Fern has chosen to maintain a low public profile and keep her personal life out of the limelight.

On looking for love, she told the publication: ‘I’m still a bit too wary of losing my liberty.

Instead of seeking advice from others, I might as well make my own decision since asking for opinions in the past didn’t yield positive results.

It seems that only I am in a position to admit, ‘I made a mistake there.’ I’m feeling rather confident [but] I wouldn’t claim that I’m always 100% correct.

Cats make wonderful companions, yet there are times when I feel a deep sense of solitude, as the quiet solitude of working alone can sometimes be isolating. It’s refreshing to acknowledge this truth.

Regarding her most recent work, Fern is set to publish another book. This book is centered around Wilderhoo, a fictitious 1,000-year-old manor in Cornwall that has fallen into disrepair.

5 years ago, the presenter made a permanent relocation to her vacation home in Cornwall, gradually refurbishing it over time.

In a departure from her usual pace, it took author Fern a full two years to pen “A Cornish Legacy”, her eleventh book that hits shelves on June 5th.

She typically delivers at least one piece per year, but due to being quite occupied recently, she apologized for the delay in her conversation with the publication.

Last year, the beauty took part in Celebrity Big Brother and finished in fifth place.

Instead of focusing on television as a primary professional pursuit, she parted ways with the long-running morning show “This Morning,” where she co-hosted for 10 years alongside John Leslie and later Philip Schofield, eventually leaving in 2009.

she mentioned: ‘Writing is my main focus these days, and it’s only recently that I’ve been able to embrace that role fully. Wow, yes, I can proudly call myself an author at last!’
