Originally shown on Acorn TV, Queens of Mystery was one of the streaming service’s earliest fully original series.

It was created by Julian Unthank, who previously wrote for Martin Clunes’ comedy-drama Doc Martin.

Mattie, often jokingly called a lifelong bachelor, investigates murders in a charming English village with the help of her three quirky and unique aunts.

I’m really hooked on this new detective! It’s not just about the cases she’s solving, though. She’s also dealing with a really tough personal mystery – her mom disappeared when she was just a little girl, only three years old. It adds a whole other layer to the story, and I’m dying to know what happened!

Juliet Stevenson narrates the series and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Narrator in 2019 for her work.

Fans on IMDB compared the show’s use of Stevenson as the narrator to the style of the classic ABC dark comedy Pushing Daisies.

One viewer compared the show to Pushing Daisies, praising its whimsical storytelling, vibrant colors, and the way it reveals characters’ thoughts. They appreciated it as a refreshing alternative to the often dark and realistic nature of typical crime shows.

Someone else commented that it features enjoyable characters, a pleasing look, and an unusual story, reminding them of the show Pushing Daisies – which they really liked!

Another fan loved how the show both celebrated classic murder mysteries and brought a fresh, original feel to the genre.

The show features wonderfully developed female characters who feel like realistic sisters, and their engaging personalities really elevate an already interesting story.

Queens of Mystery is available to stream now on U.
