Ellen DeGeneres’ new $27M mansion in Montecito is massive at almost 9K square feet

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have purchased a large new home in Montecito for $27.4 million.

In November, the couple finalized the purchase of the former home of Hollywood producer Brian Grazer, located in a wealthy neighborhood, according to Realtor.com.

Public records show the property has a gated entrance, a long, curving driveway, and a spacious garage area.

This property sits on three acres of land and features a large, green lawn, well-established trees, and a spacious terrace. It also includes a pickleball court with a nearby cabana, and a small wooded area with over a dozen trees.

You’ll also find a lap pool and hot tub, plus lots of room outside for dining and relaxing furniture.

The property features a large 8,700-square-foot main house, as well as a separate guest house located on the lower part of the yard.

According to Realtor.com, Grazer bought the property in 2012 for $7.6 million and finished building the main house in 2015.

According to Realtor.com, the property was sold in a private transaction, which explains why there are no pictures of it available on real estate websites.

According to reports, the private sale closed in late November and was made through a trust associated with Ellen DeGeneres’ real estate investments.

PeopleĀ also reported on Tuesday that the home was bought by DeGeneres.

However, the 68-year-old comedian isn’t leaving England entirely. She and her wife, 53, still plan to spend time there, even after moving in November 2024.

According to People magazine, the celebrity couple will only be spending some of their time in Southern California.

According to a source, she doesn’t plan to return to the U.S. and will keep dividing her time between the U.K. and Montecito.

Montecito is a popular spot for celebrities, with friends like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston owning homes there. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also live in Montecito, and Kendall Jenner is a recent homeowner in the area.

Daily Mail has reached out to the star’s representative for comment.Ā

Sources say the longtime Hollywood star has been feeling homesick for California, having lived in England for over a year in pursuit of a more fulfilling life.

She was said to be deeply upset by Donald Trump’s re-election and considered moving out of the country because of it.

According to a source at People magazine, Ellen DeGeneres hasn’t been spotted in her neighborhood in England for several months, leading locals to think she’s moved away.

In December, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were seen together in Santa Barbara. Also that month, DeGeneres posted a photo from California on Instagram.

According to a source familiar with the real estate market, the couple have been longing for the California lifestyle – specifically the warm weather and equestrian culture – since relocating to the countryside of the Cotswolds in 2024.

The insider also shared: ‘Portia loves polo and her horses.’

The Cotswolds is a charming countryside region in south central England, stretching across parts of six counties, especially Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

Its rolling hills and grassland harbor thatched medieval villages, churches and stately homes.

I’ve been following Ellen and Portia’s move to England, and it’s been quite a journey! They initially bought a beautiful farmhouse for around $18 million over a year ago, but it turns out it just wasn’t the right fit for them, according to The Wall Street Journal, so they decided to move on.

They then purchased another home in the area that had floor-to-ceiling windows and was more modern.Ā

As a huge fan, I was so glad to hear she finally had a place that could properly care for her horses! It wasn’t just a place to keep them, but a real home with tons of land for them to roam and graze – exactly what they deserved.

In July, reports surfaced that DeGeneres listed her original English farmhouse for sale at a price of $30.5 million.

But Realtor.com reported in late January that the house has been taken off the market.

It wasn’t known why the property was no longer listed for sale, or if Ellen DeGeneres had found someone to buy it, according to the website.

This comes afterĀ DeGeneres expressed her support for anti-ICE protesters in Minneapolis.

The actress shared her grief on Instagram about the events in what many call ‘the happiest city in America,’ after Renee Good was fatally shot by ICE officers earlier this month.

In a clip from her 2024 Netflix special, Ellen DeGeneres expressed her sadness about the events in Minneapolis and across the country. She specifically mentioned feeling particularly connected to the city, as she filmed her most recent stand-up show there and had a wonderful experience with the people she met.

‘I shot it there because they say it’s the happiest city in America. And I found that to be true.

I’m sending my support and well wishes to everyone. I admire those who are protesting peacefully, and I’m truly sorry to hear about anyone who has been injured simply for exercising their right to protest.

DeGeneres’ talk show came to an end after 19 years in 2022.
