Elle Fanning’s co-star Michael Angarano says rehearsals for their sex scenes left him ‘sore’

Michael Angarano, who acted alongside Elle Fanning in Margo’s Got Money Troubles, jokingly said that filming their intimate scenes left him feeling physically sore.

The 38-year-old actor discussed filming the comedy-drama alongside 28-year-old Fanning, and shared details about how they approached the show’s more intimate scenes.

He explained to People at the New York City premiere on Wednesday, April 8th, that they practiced the intimate scenes under the guise of ‘stunt rehearsals’.

‘It was actually kind of fun thinking of it like stunt work,’ he added. 

He shared that both he and Fanning underwent physical training before filming began. Fanning recently spent time with Dakota Fanning at SXSW, where she offered a lot of support and was often present on set.

He explained that they were still feeling the physical effects afterwards, but that practicing the intimate scenes together had brought them closer.

In the Apple TV+ series, the pair play a couple and Angarano said it was ‘really fun.’ 

He shared that he and Fanning were already friends before they began working together on the project, and he was thrilled to collaborate with her.

He explained that he and Fanning had a friendly relationship beforehand, which made him particularly enthusiastic about working with her on the film, as their characters have a very complex connection.

He described the story’s core idea and their characters’ connection as complex and deeply emotional.

He noted the show excels at portraying deeply flawed characters without passing judgment on them.

‘I think a lot of people would cast aspersions about their relationship,’ he continued. 

Okay, let’s be honest, it was a bit of a messy situation – definitely not something I’d endorse long-term. He wasn’t handling it the best way, but I have to admit, it was surprisingly enjoyable while it lasted. It was just a playful adventure, and I really had fun exploring that side of things.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles was adapted from Rufi Thorpe’s same-name novel.

In the show, Fanning stars as Margo, a young woman who becomes pregnant after a relationship with her married professor (Angarano) and then faces financial hardship.

Facing financial hardship after leaving college and becoming a young mother, she began looking for alternative ways to earn money.

The story follows a woman who starts an OnlyFans account, unexpectedly taking advice from her long-separated father – a former professional wrestler.

‘Though successful, she wonders if internet fame comes at too high cost.’

The series also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Nicole Kidman, Nick Offerman and many more. 

Margo’s Got Money Troubles will premiere on Wednesday and be available to stream on Apple TV.
