Elisabeth Moss didn’t take long to return to Hulu.
I’m so thrilled to see Elisabeth Moss landing another big role! She’s incredible – a two-time Emmy winner, and I’ll always remember her as June Osborne in The Handmaid’s Tale. That show was amazing, and it’s hard to believe it ran for six seasons, from April 2017 to May 2025, winning a total of 15 Primetime Emmys from 32 nominations!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elisabeth Moss will star in and help produce a new legal thriller for Hulu called Conviction. The series is based on Jack Jordan’s 2023 novel of the same name. Warren Littlefield (known for The Handmaid’s Tale) and David Shore (House) are also executive producers on the project.
Bryan Shore, known for co-creating Battle Creek and developing The Good Doctor, will be the showrunner for this new series. Moss will play the lead character, Neve Harper. Here’s the official description of Conviction:
Neve Harper gets the case of a lifetime – a famous murder where the wife’s husband is accused of arson. But when a shadowy figure starts blackmailing her, Neve must break all the rules to win the case – or her own hidden past will be revealed.
Even though Elisabeth Moss has stayed involved with Hulu as a producer, particularly with the new series The Testaments (a spin-off of The Handmaid’s Tale), Conviction will be her first acting role for the streaming service since May 2025.
This will be one of the first times she’s been on camera since finishing The Handmaid’s Tale. She hasn’t appeared in any movies or TV shows since the series ended, although she recently finished filming the Apple TV drama Imperfect Women, which stars Kerry Washington and will be released on March 18th.
Elisabeth Moss has consistently starred in leading television roles since gaining recognition as Peggy Olson on Mad Men, which aired from 2007 to 2015. Beyond her well-known role as June in The Handmaid’s Tale, she’s also played detective Robin Griffin in Top of the Lake, archivist Kirby Mazrachi in Shining Girls, and MI6 agent Imogen Salter in The Veil.
Notably, Conviction will be Elisabeth Moss’s first time starring as the lead in a legal drama. While Moss has demonstrated her acting versatility across many genres, her willingness to take on new challenges with this upcoming Hulu series could generate significant excitement as it moves forward.
