Elden Ring Nightreign Will Finally Add Duos “At A Later Date”
Summary
- Elden Ring Nightreign announced on Twitter that a duos option is coming to the game.
- There’s no word on when we can expect the feature to be implemented, just a vague promise of “a later date”.
- In the meantime, FromSoftware has been tweaking solo Expeditions to make them easier and more balanced.
In the excitement over reaching 3.5 million sales, FromSoftware revealed that multiplayer mode for Elden Ring Nightreign, allowing two players to team up, is planned for release at some point in the remaining months of the year.
The demand for this feature was high even before the game started, and it was a significant point of discussion in early reviews, causing Nightreign to receive a ‘Mixed’ rating on Steam at its launch. Later, FromSoftware expressed regret, with director Junya Ishizaki admitting that it had been unintentionally overlooked as the team focused on striking a balance between solo and trio Expeditions.
Besides the DLC being launched towards the end of this year, additional features are planned for rollout over time, such as improved battles with current Nightlords commencing from this very month.
Prior to the unveiling of a specific mode for duos, Nightreign managed to secure a ‘Mostly Positive’ rating. With updates being released to accommodate player feedback and the development of duos in progress, it seems that FromSoftware has regained some favor among players. However, numerous gamers remain dissatisfied due to the absence of cross-platform compatibility.
Solo Is Also Being Rebalanced
If you prefer playing by yourself, that’s perfectly fine! FromSoftware has been making adjustments to single-player expeditions as well. In fact, they released a patch yesterday that makes solo play easier. This update includes an “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat” feature at the start of every solo expedition, and also increases the amount of Runes you get from defeated enemies.
While it’s a step forward, there’s ongoing debate about whether solo play requires more refinement. Although leveling is smoother and enemies have lower health, you’re significantly handicapped due to the lack of teammates. Bosses like Gladius (the initial Nightlord) are strategized for three-person teams, splitting into three, leaving you without backup when you fall. Granted, you can purchase a Wending Grace before each Nightlord encounter, but that provides only one revive, while your teammates could potentially revive multiple times.
That being said, someone has already beaten the game solo.
Despite some initial difficulties, things are starting to look brighter for Nightreign as they prepare for upcoming duos and anticipate new arrivals later this year.
