Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Two-Hand Weapons

Discover the technique for dual-wielding weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign to unleash the maximum power of your close combat weapons, and strike opponents with powerful strikes.

Elden Ring: Nightreign rekindles the soul-like gaming experience reminiscent of the popular 2022 release, infusing it with an intriguing rogue-like element. The latest offering from FromSoftware preserves fundamental mechanics found in earlier soul-like games, and among them is the use of two-handed weapons – a feature long cherished by fans of this genre. If you’re a devotee of soul-like games, you’ll appreciate the sheer power that comes with brandishing a weapon with both hands.

Instead of just making your combat style graceful and enhancing weapon damage, two-handing weapons in Elden Ring: Nightreign operates a bit uniquely compared to conventional approaches. Learn how to wield two-handed weapons efficiently in Elden Ring: Nightreign to navigate the Labyrinth of Limveld more productively.

How to Two-Hand a Weapon in Elden Ring Nightreign?

In Elden Ring Nightreign, to dual-wield a melee weapon using both hands, I simply need to press the button for my light attack on either my right- or left-hand weapon while simultaneously holding down the interaction/examine button. By keeping the interaction key pressed and tapping the right-hand light attack, I can equip my right-hand weapon with two hands for a more powerful swing.

Instead, pressing the left-side attack key simultaneously with the interaction button will execute the identical function for your left-hand weapon. Here’s how it operates across different platforms:

or

Pressing the left-attack and interact buttons together will trigger the same action for your left-hand weapon on each platform. Let me explain how it functions on each platform:

Both versions aim to convey the same idea in a more natural and easy-to-read manner.

  • PlayStation: Hold triangle and press R1 or L1.
  • Xbox: Hold Y and press RB or LB.
  • PC: Hold Alt and click the right or left mouse button.

You can press the same combinations to revert back to one-handed wielding.

What Happens When You Two-Hand a Weapon in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Wielding a weapon with both hands alters your fighting position and significantly boosts the amount of damage you inflict on enemies. In essence, two-handed strikes deliver more powerful blows and cause greater harm. Furthermore, this technique improves your ability to disrupt enemy resistance, enabling you to execute stagger and critical attacks successfully. Additionally, you’ll acquire new impressive move sets, although they are slightly slower compared to single-handed attacks.

On the other hand, it does come with its own set of disadvantages. For instance, it doesn’t allow for shield blocking or simultaneous dual-wielding (using two weapons at once). As a result, when you wield a weapon with both hands, you primarily depend on evasion instead of blocking to dodge incoming attacks. Wielding a weapon in this manner can be very advantageous if your goal is to deal more damage, making it easier to defeat opponents and bosses.
