EastEnders star Rita Simmons reveals she is set to undergo a breast reduction to help ease her scoliosis woes as she prepares for surgery in health update

EastEnders actress Rita Simmons announced on Instagram over the weekend that she’s planning to have a breast reduction surgery.

The 49-year-old actress, known for her role as Roxy Mitchell on the BBC soap opera, lives with a painful spinal condition called scoliosis.

This is an abnormal curvature of the spine that can cause mobility issues and pain.

The actress recently shared that she’s scheduled for surgery in three weeks to address ongoing pain.

Rita shared that she’s quit vaping, which she called a bad habit, and she’s also planning to get a breast reduction, describing her breasts as a major annoyance.

I was really taken aback when she posted a bunch of photos and videos. It included a pretty personal X-ray of her spine, and even a video showing her chest. It was definitely a vulnerable thing for her to share, and I felt like she was really opening up.

She explained in her post that she was quitting for two reasons: it was a disgusting habit she needed to break, and she has surgery coming up in three weeks.

I’m finally getting breast reduction surgery. The back pain from my large breasts has become unbearable, and I’m ready to have it resolved.

This chapter appears to be about eliminating things from my life that are no longer helpful – things like alcohol, sugar, smoking, and even, potentially, undergoing a breast reduction. The author feels that, like the other things mentioned, breasts no longer serve a purpose for them.

Due to the specific curve of my spine and the overall condition of my back, doctors have determined that surgery isn’t a good option for me.

Because my spinal condition can’t be cured, I’m concentrating on managing my pain and preventing it from getting worse.

‘They’ll never be cured — so we work with what we’ve got,’ she explained.

Honestly, besides feeling better, I’m really hoping to get rid of the curve in my back and the prominent swelling in my chest. I’d like to address those issues.

Rita shared this information because adult scoliosis is often overlooked, and women with the condition frequently face unexpected challenges.

Fans flocked to the comments section to wish Rita well as they related to her spinal health woes.

One person wrote: ‘Good luck!! Your curvy spine will be so happy after.’

‘I’ve had scoliosis since small it’s bloody painful hope all goes well’

As a lifestyle expert, I’m sending Rita all my best wishes! It’s so brave of her to share her story and bring attention to this important issue, and I’m hoping she has a quick and full recovery. Seriously, sharing your experiences like that takes courage, and I applaud her for it. Taking care of yourself is key, Rita!
