Dylan O’Brien’s Survival Horror Send Help Sets Digital Release Date

Sam Raimi’s latest film is coming to digital platforms and home media very soon. Although it didn’t dominate the box office, the movie still achieved several impressive milestones when it was released in theaters earlier this year.

20th Century Studios announced that the movie Send Help will be available to rent or buy digitally on March 24th. The 4K Ultra HD and DVD versions of the film will be available in stores on April 21st.

What Happens in Send Help?

Horror director Sam Raimi helms this film, written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The story follows Linda, a business strategist who is unfairly denied a promotion in favor of her former boss’s son, Bradley Preston (played by Dylan O’Brien). When Linda and Bradley are among a group of executives traveling to Bangkok, a storm causes their plane to crash, leaving them as the sole survivors.

Linda’s survival skills quickly become apparent, causing increasing conflict with Bradley, who is spoiled and completely unprepared for their situation. Their relationship changes dramatically, but just as they begin to understand each other, a string of terrible accidents destroys any progress they’ve made.

I was so excited when Send Help came out in January, and it totally delivered! As of today, it’s got a 93% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 270 reviews from critics. Even better, it’s become Sam Raimi’s highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, making over $93 million at the box office on a budget of just $40 million! It’s a huge success, and I’m thrilled for everyone involved.

What’s Next for Sam Raimi After the Success of Send Help?

Despite the success of his film Send Help, director Sam Raimi isn’t planning another original movie right now. He’s been talking about finally making a sequel to Darkman, one of his older, fan-favorite films – a sequel he never had the chance to create before.

In 2025, Sam Raimi announced that his production company, Ghost House Pictures, was working on a new Darkman movie. He mentioned they had a completed script and two directors lined up, but were still trying to secure funding, which he noted is a common challenge in filmmaking.

The film introduces Dr. Peyton Westlake, played by Liam Neeson, a gifted scientist whose life is shattered when a crime boss named Robert Durant attacks his lab. After a risky procedure eliminates his ability to feel pain and grants him superhuman strength, Westlake uses the artificial skin he created to attempt to rebuild his life and get revenge on the people who ruined it.

Released in 1990, Darkman was a box office success, earning almost $50 million with a $14 million budget. Later, two sequels – Darkman II: The Return of Durant and Darkman III: Die Darkman Die – were made for home video, but neither were directed by Sam Raimi or starred Liam Neeson.

You can start streaming Send Help on March 24th. The 4K Ultra HD and DVD versions will be available on April 21st.
