DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba hospitalized after mystery medical emergency on flight

Carrie Ann Inaba recently had a medical issue while on a flight that required her to be hospitalized.

The Dancing With the Stars judge shared details on Instagram about a scary experience she had while traveling from Los Angeles to New York. She was on her way to work with Novartis on a campaign to increase understanding of Sjögren’s disease, a condition she herself manages.

Yesterday was a bit of a whirlwind,” she wrote alongside a video showing her in an ambulance. “I was traveling to New York for something I really care about, but I experienced a minor health issue on the plane.

She continued, explaining that she suddenly felt sick. It seemed like food poisoning at first, but then she also started sweating, felt dizzy, and lost feeling in her arms.

The 58-year-old went on to explain the moment she realized she needed help from the flight crew.

I mean, usually I’m totally on top of my health stuff, I really am. It’s just, living with this autoimmune thing means I’m always prepared – I carry a whole kit with everything I might need, you know, just in case. But this… this was different. This genuinely scared me. I wasn’t ready for this, even with everything I usually do to take care of myself.

She also mentioned that while she was stuck in the restroom, the plane was going through turbulence, and flight attendants had been instructed to sit down for safety.

I always try to handle things myself and never want to put anyone in danger. But there was a moment, when my arms just went completely numb, and I realized I absolutely needed to ask for help. It was scary, but I knew I couldn’t keep going on my own.

Inaba expressed gratitude to a flight attendant who responded to her call for help while she was stuck in the airplane bathroom during turbulence, even though the attendant was instructed to be seated at the time.

‘She immediately knew I was in trouble and needed medical attention.’
