Shane Boose took the stage wearing a studded leather jacket with “77” sparkling on the back, a sheer lace top, and leather pants. He raised a fist in the air from a platform, striking a powerful, arena-style pose as he launched into the song “Homewrecker.”
The energy in the room was incredible early on! The crowd went wild for classics like “We Never Dated” and “Come Closer,” and honestly, hearing “I Wish I Knew How to Quit You” with that many voices singing along was a real highlight. But the biggest surprise? They finally played “Potential” live, and the reaction was huge – everyone was so excited to hear something new!
The concert took place on a day with a strong rock lineup at Coachella. Jack White started things off earlier in the week in the Mojave Tent, and there was a lot of anticipation for The Strokes to perform Saturday night before Justin Bieber headlined.
Honestly, one of the coolest things about the festival was seeing rock music truly come alive! Sombr had a surprise guest – apparently his first time ever at the festival, according to Boose – and it was Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins! They played “1979,” one of their big hits from the 90s, and it was amazing to hear that classic song with a new energy, especially since it’s been getting so much love on TikTok and Instagram lately. It really felt like a moment that showed rock isn’t going anywhere.
