Dua Lipa, like all famous people, has been photographed countless times. A recent photo taken of her behind the scenes at the 2024 Austin City Limits Music Festival may have been shared without her permission.
Dua Lipa is suing Samsung for $15 million, alleging the company used a photo she owns the rights to on their TV packaging. The claim centers around a festival photo, and evidence shared on social media by Pop Crave suggests she has a strong case.
Dua Lipa is suing Samsung, alleging the company unfairly used her image to boost TV sales. The lawsuit claims Samsung profited by suggesting her appearance in their commercials led to increased purchases.
Dua Lipa sues Samsung over alleged use of her image
I’ve been seeing some wild stuff online – apparently, people are actually buying TVs just because Dua Lipa’s face is on the box! It’s kinda crazy, and a lot of folks are saying they assumed she’d given the company permission to use her image, like she’s officially backing the brand. It’s a weird situation, honestly.
According to the lawsuit, Ms. Lipa’s image was used in a large advertising campaign for a product without her permission or involvement. She neither approved of, nor would have allowed, this use of her likeness.

If Samsung used a photo of Dua Lipa without permission and printed it on their TV boxes, the company could face legal issues. It seems like a simple mistake to verify, especially if the image was used to promote sales. Someone within Samsung will likely be held accountable if it turns out they intentionally used the image without the proper rights.
Aside from her legal issues, Dua Lipa has been actively performing. She recently shared the stage with Tame Impala at London’s O2 Arena and participated in the London Literature Festival. While her 2024 album, Radical Optimism, initially did well—reaching No. 2 in the US and No. 1 in the UK—sales have since slowed down.
Dua Lipa has also acted in several films, including the upcoming movie Peaked, which stars Connor Storrie and Laura Dern. The film is currently in post-production.
