Drew Barrymore gets emotional as she discusses body insecurities a decade after having two C-sections

Drew Barrymore became visibly moved while helping a guest with a fashion makeover on her talk show this Monday.

The 51-year-old host became emotional while talking about her own struggles with body image, after connecting with a mother of four who was hesitant to wear clothes that showed her shape.

When Dawn Benwood revealed her new look on stage, Drew Barrymore shared that she deeply connected with Dawn’s story.

Barrymore shares daughters Olive, 13, and Frankie, 11, with ex-husband Will Kopelman.

“I completely understand,” she told Benwood, tears welling up in her eyes. “The other day, I was walking and realized, after having two C-sections, that my body has changed so much I can’t comfortably wear many kinds of pants anymore.”

She explained that recently, while walking around wearing a shorter shirt, she couldn’t close her jacket. She found herself worrying about people seeing what was underneath.

The former child star also shared that she understands how having children, a busy schedule, and the natural changes that come with age and motherhood can make things feel different.

She shared that listening to the story reminded her of a recent experience she had while walking down the street with her daughter on a Sunday. It brought back strong feelings from that moment.

I understand completely. Honestly, seeing you, I’m really impressed by all the effort you’ve put in – you had to tell us about it for us to realize how much work it took – and you look amazing.

Drew Barrymore then spoke with Benwood’s teenage daughter, who was in the audience, and shared that her own daughters inspire her to be more adventurous with her style.

My daughter actually pushes me to try new styles, and honestly, it often makes me feel great,” she said.

She mentioned the jeans that had made her feel self-conscious, saying she’d never wear them again. She added that everyone deserves to find clothes that make them feel good.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I nearly fainted when I heard! CBS just renewed their daytime show for TWO MORE SEASONS! I was so worried it might get canceled, but it’s official – we get more of them! I’m absolutely thrilled and can’t wait!

She shared the exciting news on Instagram, revealing that the show has been renewed for two more seasons. She expressed her gratitude and excitement in the post’s caption.

The Drew Barrymore Show launched in 2020 and features a revolving door of celebrity guests.

As a longtime fan, I was so happy to hear what Drew Barrymore had to say! She explained that the most important thing to her and the show is always the audience – us! She wants to keep the heart of the show as a place for real, personal conversations, but also expand how we can experience it – across all kinds of platforms. It’s exciting to see her vision for the future!

Today, people find content through many different channels, and since we launched in 2020, our goal has been to do something completely new, instead of simply following the usual patterns of daytime television.

I’m committed to understanding where and how people are watching the show, making sure it reaches everyone it needs to. At the same time, I want to stay true to myself and navigate life’s challenges alongside others.

I’m driven by a genuine interest in people, and I’m thrilled to keep going with this project – it feels like a wonderful opportunity. We’re all incredibly thankful to CBS and George Cheeks for their support in making this happen.
