Dragon Ball Super: Golden Frieza Anime Release Teased in Latest Preview
For weeks, rumors swirled online, and now Toei Animation has officially confirmed what everyone expected: a remastered version of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. This release covers the first story arc of the 2015 anime and manga, which were both originally based on the 2013 movie, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.
Akira Toriyama’s incredibly popular manga, Dragon Ball, continues to thrill fans around the world through its many adaptations, including animated TV series, films, video games, and merchandise. It remains one of the most successful titles ever created.
I’m excited to see that Dragon Ball Super is getting a fresh start in 2026 as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus! Akira Toriyama’s original creation is being reimagined with a lot of new and redrawn scenes, and the story is being rebuilt. They’re really pushing the visuals to make the battles even more intense and to stay truer to the original manga – it’s like seeing this series come to life in a whole new way.
During the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus panel at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, fans were treated to video messages from Akio Iyoku, the Executive Producer of the Dragon Ball series, as well as Kōichi Yamadera and Jason Douglas, who voice Beerus in Japanese and English respectively. Legendary Japanese voice actress Masako Nozawa, who plays Goku, also shared a special message with Dragon Ball fans around the world.
Golden Frieza’s return signals more to come for Dragon Ball Super. Along with revisiting the series’ biggest story arcs in updated versions, we might finally see storylines that weren’t adapted before. This also makes a longer, more detailed version of the 2022 animated movie very likely.
An official release date for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus hasn’t been announced yet. But you can currently read earlier chapters of the Dragon Ball Super manga online through the Viz Media and Manga Plus apps. These chapters were created by the late Akira Toriyama and artist Toyotarou.
