Dragon Ball Confirms Goku Is a Bigger Loser Than Fans Thought

Okay, so the stats are finally out, and honestly, it’s a wild ride for Goku! He’s totally dominating in some areas, making him the clear winner, but there are also a few stats where he really falls behind. It’s a bit of a mixed bag – he’s both the best and the worst, which is pretty crazy to see!

The official results of the first global Dragon Ball character poll were announced in late January, alongside the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event. As predicted by many fans, Goku took the top spot as the most popular Dragon Ball character worldwide (apologies to Vegeta fans!). However, the data revealing Goku’s journey as a fighter contained some unexpected surprises.

According to the official Dragon Ball website, Goku has won 76 of his 117 battles and lost 16. This means he has a win rate of only 65%, which is surprisingly low considering how powerful he’s known to be.

Dragon Ball’s Goku Claims Global Victory Amid Shocking Win-Loss Ratio

According to the official Dragon Ball website, Goku has fought in 117 battles, winning 76, losing 16, and having 25 end without a clear winner. This gives him a win rate of around 65%, which suggests he often prioritizes the fight itself over actually winning. Notably, Goku didn’t achieve a single victory during the Android and Cell saga. After his win against Frieza on Namek, he didn’t win another fight until he defeated Yakon on Babidi’s spaceship!

The official Dragon Ball website highlighted the dramatic conclusion of the “Cell Games,” where Goku’s spirit guided his son, Gohan, to finally defeat Perfect Cell. This victory was specifically credited to Gohan, not Goku, and it remains one of the most beloved moments in Dragon Ball Z among fans. Originally, the creator intended to end the series after this arc, but the staff at Shonen Jump convinced him to continue.

Many fans likely think Goku’s go-to attack is the Kamehameha or Spirit Bomb, but the official Dragon Ball website surprisingly revealed that Goku actually relies on kicks more often. In fact, he’s finished off opponents with kicks a total of 11 times! He uses all sorts of kicks, including powerful flying kicks and spinning kicks.

During the attack on the Red Ribbon Army headquarters, there was a fantastic scene of Goku taking down two soldiers simultaneously with a powerful kick in the air! Interestingly, he only used his famous Kamehameha wave as a final attack just three times.

The Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event kicked off a new phase for Dragon Ball Super, introducing the “Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga” which will be part of the fall 2026 programming.

I was really bummed to hear that Toyotarou, who’s now doing all the work on the Dragon Ball Super manga as both artist and writer, wasn’t able to make it to the event in January. It’s a shame, but I understand things come up!
