Downton Abbey star backed to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond

Okay, so I’m super excited that Denis Villeneuve is directing the next James Bond movie and Steven Knight is writing it! But honestly, even with them on board, we still don’t know who’s going to be the next 007 after Daniel Craig. It’s killing me – who will it be?!

Many actors, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Callum Turner, have been mentioned as potential candidates for the role. However, fans have recently suggested an unexpected and surprising choice.

Arty Froushan, known for recently playing Noël Coward in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, is a fan favorite to play a role in Daredevil: Born Again. Viewers have been particularly impressed with his portrayal of Buck Cashman and believe he’d be a great fit.

One fan shared a photo of Froushan posing with a weapon, reminiscent of the classic James Bond opening title card, and wrote, “Hear me out.” Another fan agreed, replying, “That’s a very accurate Bond pose, to be fair. I can definitely see it.”

One user commented that he’s the most convincing James Bond ever, especially considering he’s only 32! Another agreed he’s perfect for the role, but worried the producers will choose a more famous actor instead.

Vincent D’Onofrio, Froushan’s co-star on Daredevil: Born Again, also supported the idea, offering a straightforward endorsement: “I agree.”

Recently, Sydney Sweeney’s name has been playfully mentioned as a potential choice for the role, with director Paul Feig even suggesting she’d be a great fit.

The director, having recently collaborated with Sweeney on The Housemaid, believes she would make a fantastic James Bond. “There have been some memorable Bond girls, but it’s time to let her be the spy – she’s incredibly talented,” they told The Sun. They praised her as professional, intelligent, and resourceful, adding, “I think she’d be a great spy.”

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, currently starring in Fuze with Taylor-Johnson and Theo James, has expressed enthusiasm for a female James Bond, telling The Independent she thinks it would be “really fun.”

The 26th James Bond film has no release date.
