While it’ll likely be a while before we see Doctor Doom’s plans unfold in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Comics is already hinting at what’s next for the character’s story. A new and unexpected replacement for Doctor Doom has recently appeared in the comics.
Okay, so I just read Captain America #10, and wow, things got crazy! They brought Doctor Doom back, but like, a way younger version of him. It’s a really different look for the character, but they did a cool job of hinting at the classic Doom with a brown cape and green sweater. The last panel was the biggest shocker, though – young Doom straight-up announces he’s ready to take charge of Latveria! It’s setting up something big, I can feel it.
Marvel’s New Doctor Doom Replacement Sets Up Major Comics Crossover
The ending of Captain America #10 leaves readers with more questions than answers. However, Marvel has already hinted at what’s next for Doctor Doom and his plans for world domination. Captain America #11 comes out on May 13th, and is being promoted as a must-read issue that will reveal Doctor Doom’s most powerful weapon as he moves closer to triggering Armageddon.
Marvel has hinted at a major event coming in June that will significantly alter the Avengers and the broader Marvel Universe. Written by Zdarsky, the five-issue series, Avengers: Armageddon, will feature a powerful conflict as some of Marvel’s biggest heroes face off against Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, also known as The Red Hulk.
It’s unclear what Doctor Doom’s involvement will be, but a major event is coming. The story reveals that Red Hulk is causing widespread destruction and will require Earth’s strongest heroes – including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and Wolverine – to stop him. However, not everyone will make it through this massive conflict, as the Marvel Universe will be forever changed. Witness the before and after of this world-altering event!
Marvel Reunites the Avengers Ahead of Doomsday’s Theatrical Debut
This summer, the Avengers comics are heading in a bold new direction that will significantly change the Marvel Universe. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will follow suit later this year, with Doctor Doom poised to become the central villain in two upcoming Avengers films: Doomsday in 2026 and its sequel, Secret Wars, in 2027.
Currently, audiences have a better understanding of the upcoming Armageddon film than they do Doomsday. Marvel hasn’t revealed many details yet, but they’ve suggested the movie will be incredibly large in scope. It’s confirmed that the Avengers will team up with heroes from Wakanda, the New Avengers/Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, and even the X-Men – all coming together from different universes to finally defeat Doom. Doomsday is set to release in theaters on December 18th.
The latest issue of Captain America, number 10, is out now from Marvel Comics. Plus, look for the first issue of Avengers: Armageddon on June 3rd.
