Good news for Star Wars and anime fans: a fourth season of the popular animated series Star Wars Visions is reportedly in the works. Lucasfilm has consistently produced successful animated shows, including The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, The Bad Batch, and Young Jedi Adventures. Despite some uncertainty around live-action Star Wars TV shows, Lucasfilm intends to continue the Star Wars Visions series.
According to industry source Daniel Richtman, Lucasfilm is planning another season of Star Wars: Visions. This would be the show’s fourth season, and it comes after the recent season, released last October, received a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Lucasfilm tried something new with its anime anthology series, inviting animation studios worldwide to create short, standalone Star Wars stories that weren’t part of the official timeline. This approach allowed for a lot of creative freedom, which was a welcome change for Star Wars fans, and several of the initial episodes proved so successful that they received continuations in Season 3 of Star Wars: Visions.

Disney hasn’t officially announced Season 4 yet, but considering the success of Star Wars Visions, it’s likely to happen. According to Richtman, Disney is also planning more spin-off projects related to Star Wars Visions. While details are still unknown, Disney revealed Star Wars: Visions Presents in 2025, a new brand that could include additional series and films set in the Star Wars Visions universe.
The first confirmed spin-off is a series based on the popular “Ninth Jedi” episode from Star Wars: Visions Volume 1, and it’s scheduled to premiere in 2026. It appears these other spin-offs will also be series released under the Star Wars: Visions Presents banner, suggesting that other well-received episodes from the Disney+ show will get their own dedicated expansions in the future.
The animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions debuted on Disney+ in 2021, with new episodes released in 2023 as Volume 2, and Volume 3 arriving in 2025. Various animation studios have contributed to the series, including Studio Trigger, Cartoon Saloon, Aardman, Studio Mir, and Kamikaze DOUGA.
What to Expect From Star Wars: Visions Volume 4
Since the announcement of Star Wars: Visions is recent, it’s currently unknown what Lucasfilm and Disney have planned for the fourth installment of the animated series.
The first and third volumes of Star Wars: Visions featured episodes created entirely by Japanese animation studios, with a strong anime aesthetic. The second volume broadened the scope, including animated episodes from studios around the globe, such as those in France, Chile, and India. Lucasfilm may continue this trend, inviting even more new animation studios to contribute their take on the Star Wars universe.
The series Visions has also done well with follow-up episodes, like “The Duel: Payback” and “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope,” both of which continued stories from Volume 1. With Volume 4 confirmed, there’s now a chance to create sequels for episodes from earlier seasons – or expand them into longer narratives under the Star Wars Visions Presents label.
The renewal of Star Wars: Visions for a fourth season is a significant achievement for Lucasfilm. No other Star Wars series has reached this milestone since Star Wars: Rebels concluded in 2018, excluding the 2020 revival of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Originally planned for a fourth season, The Mandalorian will continue as a film called The Mandalorian and Grogu. Unlike The Bad Batch and Young Jedi Adventures, which will conclude after their third seasons, Star Wars: Visions is unusual for being renewed on Disney+ for more than three seasons.
