In Monster Hunter Wilds, cooperative multiplayer is quite significant. When you initially start the game while connected to the internet, it places you in a crossplay multiplayer room with up to 99 other players. This means there’s almost always someone ready to lend a hand should you encounter difficulties during your hunt.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, some players might dislike unexpected intrusions during their mission or battle against a strong enemy, especially if the opponent is too powerful. Fortunately, players can effortlessly switch to single-player mode within the game without having to log out.
How to Play Monster Hunter Wilds Solo

- Speak to Alma to open the Quest Counter
- Navigate to the Change Lobby Menu
- Choose the Online Single Player option
To keep others from joining their game, players should talk to Alma and access the Quest Counter. Next, they’ll want to press the shoulder buttons to move through the Change Lobby Menu and select the Online Single Player option. Making this choice will restart their game without placing them in a lobby, enabling them to enjoy Monster Hunter Wilds on their own without having to log off.

If needed, players can always re-enter a lobby using the same menu interface. Typically, they’ll select the ‘Recommended Lobby’, but if they wish to play Monster Hunter Wilds with friends, they can either create a personal lobby or search for their friend’s private lobby instead. Regardless of the choice made, it should only require a few simple button presses.
Can You Still Call for Support in Single-Player Mode?

The SOS Flare system in Monster Hunter World was thoughtfully developed to cater to both solo and multiplayer adventures. If you’re playing alone or offline, shooting an SOS Flare summons nearby Non-Player Character (NPC) Support Hunters. In a multiplayer setting, if no human players answer your call for help within a set timeframe, the game will automatically send AI-controlled support hunters to your aid instead.

Playing in single-player mode offers several benefits, such as allowing players to decide when they need assistance, which isn’t always possible with 99 other players in a lobby. This could save them from dealing with overpowered (OP) players who dominate games or low-level players who tend to hinder progress.
