Difference between High Rank A & B armor explained – Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter World, I initially thought that the High Rank Armor A and B were merely style upgrades, but upon closer inspection and comparison, it became clear there’s much more to them than meets the eye. It’s not just about changing my character’s look; there are hidden advantages at play here.
In this Monster Hunter Wilds manual, you’ll find an explanation on the distinction between High Rank Armor sets A and B, along with suggestions on which one works optimally in a majority of scenarios.
Monster Hunter Wilds: High Rank A and B armor difference
The distinction between alpha and beta armor sets lies in the special benefits they provide. Alpha sets offer additional equipment abilities, such as extra resistance types or enhancements to stamina or attack, akin to what you’d typically receive from charms. On the other hand, beta armor sets have fewer skills, but they offer more opportunities for customization, as they provide more decoration slots.
With Beta armor, you will typically find only a single skill per piece instead of the two associated with Alpha armor. Meanwhile, Alpha armor provides fewer decoration slots compared to its counterpart.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Should you craft alpha or beta armor?
opting for Beta armor is typically the superior decision, except when a particular set of talents is required, and even then, you can often obtain those talents through appropriate decorations with Beta armor. Having additional decoration slots provides more flexibility in tailoring your abilities. The only condition here is the availability of suitable decorations, as pre-defined skills associated with alpha armor restrict you to what’s tied to the armor itself.
In essence, the Alpha and Beta armor sets share identical stats, meaning it doesn’t matter which one you select as long as it fits your requirements. While they do have slight differences in color, remember that by now, you can alter the pigmentation of your layered armor freely. Therefore, the color should not significantly impact your decision-making process.
