Death in Paradise-style murder mystery returns today with ‘three new gripping mysteries’

Okay, so I’m really excited because the new season of The Marlow Murder Club just dropped! It’s from the creator of Death in Paradise, and I loved the first two seasons. Samantha Bond, Jo Martin, and Cara Horgan are all back as Judith, Suzie, and Becks – those three are such a great team solving mysteries. Everyone’s saying this season is going to be full of twists and turns, and I’m already hooked!

U and U&Drama announced that the six-episode series will feature three suspenseful murder mysteries. Co-star Bond also hinted at surprising twists that will keep audiences guessing.

This season, our three amateur detectives are taking on a more formal role, working as civilian advisors for the police department.

DI Tanika Malik, now a seasoned detective, has welcomed Judith Potts, Suzie Harris, and Becks Starling onto her team. These amateur investigators return with their unique approach to solving crimes, but a series of high-profile murders quickly leads them to a case that feels dangerously personal.

So, in this game, things get pretty intense right away. I’m talking about the mayor of this town, Marlow – a genuinely good guy, suddenly passing away. Then, to make things even crazier, a famous chef drops dead right at his own cookbook launch, with practically the whole town there! And the pressure’s on because everyone in Marlow is watching what we do, adding to the whole stressful vibe.

What to Read Next

I’m so excited for the next installment! It looks like Judith, Suzie, and Becks are heading to this creepy old manor house in the middle of nowhere for a case that’s deeply connected to Becks’ history. Apparently, it could even put their jobs as advisors at risk! They’re really going to have to rely on each other to solve this one and catch the killers, which sounds intense!

The first two episodes were co-written by Daniel Rusteau and are based on Thorogood’s novel, Queen of Poisons. Amy Reith wrote episodes three and four, and Julia Gilbert finished the series by writing the final two episodes.

In an interview with Freesat, actress Martin revealed her favorite episode of the show. While she enjoyed them all, she admitted the episode where Becks is a suspect was a particular standout.

It was surprising to see Bex sidelined – it makes sense, since she’s involved in the case, but it still felt like a blow to the team. The idea that she might be a suspect really shook us up, and Judith and I have been working extra hard to clear her name.
