A fresh batch of titles arrived this month, now available to stream without a subscription. Included is the TV series Deadly Class, offering fans a chance to revisit the show after its early cancellation.
The show Deadly Class became available on the streaming service on April 1, 2026. It was part of a larger content update that also included He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23, and Roswell, among other titles. Deadly Class was initially created for the Syfy channel and first aired there in early 2019, but it was unfortunately canceled after its first season.
Deadly Class Is Based on a Comic Book
I’m so excited about this new show! It’s based on the awesome comic series by Rick Remender and Wesley Craig, and they’ve really done a great job bringing it to life. Remender worked with Miles Orion Feldsoft to create the TV version, and it’s set in the 1980s at this super exclusive boarding school called King’s Dominion. The students there are training to become something special, and they’re all under the guidance of Master Lin – played by the incredible Benedict Wong, who you might know from the Marvel movies! He’s a really tough headmaster, and I can’t wait to see how his character plays out.
Maria Gabriela de Faria, recently known for her role as Angela Spica (The Engineer) in the Superman movie, is also part of the cast. The series features Benjamin Wadsworth (Tell Me Lies), Lana Condor (Alita: Battle Angel), Luke Tennie (Abbott Elementary), Liam James (The Killing), and Michel Duval (Queen of the South). Several well-known guest stars appeared as well, including Henry Rollins, Ice-T, and Brian Posehn.
Although critics had a somewhat divided opinion – giving Deadly Class a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – most viewers liked the show, awarding it a 90% audience score. Unfortunately, it didn’t attract enough viewers for Syfy, averaging less than 400,000 live viewers per episode. Considering the show’s high production costs due to its unique style, action sequences, and historical setting, this was a problem.
Fans Tried to Save Deadly Class
Fans tried to get another network to pick up the show after it was cancelled, with many believing it would have found more success on a streaming service like Netflix instead of Syfy. Unfortunately, those efforts weren’t successful. Despite this, Rick Remender, the creator, remained optimistic, hoping the cancellation would actually lead more people to discover the original comic books.
In 2019, Rick Remender announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Deadly Class wouldn’t be continuing on another network. He noted this actually fit the story, as those wanting to know what happened after season one could read the original comic books, which he described as excellent. He thanked the fans for their strong support, saying it helped lessen the disappointment.
Deadly Class is streaming on Tubi.
