“Dark” Australian thriller with “twists and turns” branded “fantastic” is now streaming in the UK

You can now watch all six episodes of the Australian drama Savage River on ITVX in the UK. It stars Katherine Langford, known for her roles in 13 Reasons Why and Knives Out.

I started watching this show on ABC a couple of years ago, and it’s seriously gripping. They call it a dark thriller, and it lives up to the hype. It’s all about this woman, Miki Anderson – played by Josephine Langford – who comes back to her hometown after doing time. It’s a pretty intense setup, and I’m hooked!

She’s hoping for a fresh start, but that dream is quickly destroyed when a tragedy strikes her small town, according to the story’s summary. Miki finds herself having to prove she wasn’t involved, and in doing so, uncovers secrets that have been hidden for years.

Giula Sandler (known for writing episodes of Channel 5’s The Rumour and ITV’s Protection), Belinda Bradley, and Franz Docherty created and wrote this drama.

Viewers have had mixed reactions to the series. One IMDb user initially found it somewhat predictable, but noted a twist in the first episode that suggested things might improve. After watching the entire series, they praised its ability to maintain mystery and suspense, and said the final twists were satisfying and worth the wait.
