Ayelet Zurer recently discussed the future of her character, Vanessa Fisk, and the possibility of her returning to the show. Although Vanessa died in Season 2, impacting Wilson Fisk’s storyline, Zurer emphasized that a return isn’t impossible. She jokingly said that, as a writer, she’d bring the character back, but ultimately it will depend on the direction of the story.

Vanessa’s death will have a significant and lasting effect on Fisk’s story. Even though she’s gone, her choices will continue to influence what happens, and we’ll see the emotional consequences play out in upcoming episodes – and potentially beyond – as other characters deal with the impact of her actions.

As a huge Marvel fan, I never count anyone out, and that definitely applies to Vanessa. Over the years in the comics, she’s come back from the dead and through alternate realities – all sorts of things! That history means the writers could bring her back, even though the show has been leaning towards a more realistic and gritty tone so far. It keeps the possibilities open, which I love.

Zurer described filming one of her last scenes as incredibly intense and moving. Initially, the scene was full of energy with action and stunts, but the mood shifted as the actors understood the gravity of what was happening to their characters. She called those final moments “heartbreaking,” particularly because it signified the end of Vanessa’s storyline, at least for the time being. The scene became especially emotional when they filmed the part where Vanessa is lying down and her partner collapses beside her, knowing the events of the next episode were even more devastating.

Even though the character is gone, fans are still eager to see what happens next. As the current season nears its end, the show is getting increasingly intense, demonstrating that some characters continue to impact the story even after they’re gone.
