Season 2 wrapped up a huge story arc, successfully defeating Wilson Fisk, banishing him from New York, and finally revealing Matt Murdock’s secret identity and imprisonment. Given all the exciting hints about the future and everything that was resolved this season, it was surprising there wasn’t a scene after the credits to give us a glimpse of what’s next.
While not the first to use them, the Marvel Cinematic Universe really popularized post-credits scenes as a way to hint at future storylines, making those extra scenes almost as thrilling as the movie itself. Though many Marvel shows don’t include them, the post-credits scene for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 feels particularly important because it marks the end of a significant chapter.
Daredevil and Kingpin Had a Long Rivalry in the MCU
The 2015 release of Daredevil not only introduced the hero but also showed the beginning of Wilson Fisk’s transformation from a seemingly civic-minded businessman into a full-fledged criminal kingpin. The show cleverly ran these two character arcs side-by-side, establishing a pattern of exploring how people with similar goals can end up as rivals.
Even when Kingpin wasn’t the main villain in Season 2, his influence was still strongly felt. The season highlighted the deep connection between these two characters and showed how their actions would continue to harm the city – a threat that ultimately came to fruition in Daredevil: Born Again.
As a fan, I always loved the ten-year clash between these characters – it really felt like they needed each other, and it gave us some incredible moments and acting. But honestly, looking back, I think that constant conflict actually slowed down the development of the more grounded, street-level side of the MCU. It held things back from really expanding and reaching its full potential.
Previous episodes occasionally focused on other characters, but the story always returned to Daredevil and Kingpin. Their conflict created a truly compelling narrative that remains enjoyable to watch. With the new season of Born Again arriving, it’s clear how significant their relationship was to the entire Marvel universe.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Not Having a Post-Credits Scene Ends an Era
The lack of a post-credits scene in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is significant. Avengers: Endgame famously did the same thing in 2019. Instead of a typical after-credits scene, the movie showed Tony Stark working on metal as the credits finished, then went to black. This wasn’t meant to signal the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but rather the end of that particular story arc.
Many feel the same way about Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, particularly after the big fight at City Hall. It’s tough to follow that up with a compelling story, and sometimes it’s better to end the series there. The rivalry between Daredevil and Kingpin feels even more personal and impactful than the one between Batman and the Joker, largely because of the extensive backstory and years of development the show dedicated to it.
After a lengthy conflict, the storyline with Fisk and the main characters of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 had to conclude. While these characters might reappear – photos from Season 3 already show Fisk returning – their central rivalry won’t be as prominent in future stories.
Ultimately, Born Again Season 2 felt like a fitting conclusion to everything the original Daredevil series set out to do. The future of the show will be something entirely fresh, and that’s a good thing – there are plenty of other characters and storylines worth exploring. Knowing the original Daredevil has a solid ending, fans can be confident that its legacy won’t be altered or diminished.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Represents a Necessary Fresh Start
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again didn’t include a scene after the credits, suggesting that storylines will naturally continue and evolve. The season finale brought back Luke Cage and hinted at the return of Alias Investigations, indicating that Jessica Jones’ story isn’t finished. This approach offers a fresh and significant way to introduce new plotlines.
Plus, set pictures show Danny Rand returning, probably still as Iron Fist. This is significant because Matt Murdock is currently in prison and Wilson Fisk is no longer in charge, creating a power struggle on both the hero and villain sides.
Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again is expected to feature a wider range of villains, potentially bringing back familiar faces like Gladiator or a reimagined Owl. The show will also introduce new heroes, such as White Tiger, which could lead to large-scale conflicts between heroes and villains, moving away from the traditional Daredevil versus Kingpin storyline.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again wraps up the long-running conflict between two major characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While these characters significantly shaped the world of street-level heroes, their story has reached a natural conclusion. It’s a bit disappointing this season didn’t hint at future storylines, but don’t worry – more adventures are on the way, and Daredevil and Kingpin will still be part of the universe. It’s time for new heroes and conflicts to emerge.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again concludes the long-running conflict between two major characters. While these figures have been central to the street-level Marvel stories, both good and bad, their arcs have now reached a natural ending. This opens the door for fresh faces and new conflicts to emerge. It’s a shame this strong season didn’t hint at future storylines, but more adventures are planned, and Daredevil and Kingpin will remain a part of the universe.
