A particularly heartbreaking moment in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again was the death of Hector Ayala, also known as the White Tiger. He was tragically shot by a crooked police officer right after Matt Murdock successfully defended him in court. This loss deeply impacted his niece, Angela Del Toro, who was determined to continue his work as a vigilante, though Matt initially hesitated to support her. Photos from the set last year hinted at her transformation, and a recent trailer for Season 2 now confirms Angela will officially become the White Tiger.

The new trailer gives fans their first glimpse of Camila Rodriguez as Angela Del Toro in her White Tiger costume. For a quick scene, Angela is shown standing behind Karen Page, who is pointing a gun at something approaching them.

Angela briefly appears dressed as the White Tiger, though we only see her in the costume from the shoulders down. This quick moment is important for understanding her character’s journey in the upcoming season.

The recent teaser trailer is getting attention because Angela wasn’t in the first official trailer released in January. That earlier trailer showed a lot – Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones, a hint of Matt and Karen working together to fight Fisk, and first looks at Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, who now has a costume straight from the comics. It’s not surprising that other returning heroes like White Tiger and Swordsman weren’t included.

How Important Is Angela Del Toro?

Angela Del Toro is the second person to become the White Tiger in Marvel Comics, taking on the role after Hector Ayala passed away. She initially asks Daredevil (Matt Murdock) for advice, but eventually decides to become a vigilante and take on the White Tiger identity herself. The first season of Daredevil: Born Again hinted at this path for her.

Hector Ayala, portrayed by the late Kamar de los Reyes, was the first White Tiger introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sadly, his character was killed off in Season 1, Episode 3 – shortly after Matt Murdock successfully defended him in court following a deadly confrontation with a police officer. The show paid tribute to de los Reyes, who passed away in December 2023, with a memorial card before Episode 2, which featured White Tiger’s first appearance in live-action.

Over the course of the first season, the show gradually developed a connection between Angela and Matt. He supported her by defending her uncle in court, rescuing her from the serial killer Muse, and quietly offering guidance. By the end of the season, everything was set for Angela to embrace her destiny as a comic book hero.

On set photos, Angela was seen wearing a DIY costume: a white hoodie, black pants, a vest, and protective pads on her elbows and knees. She also had a white and black striped bandana covering the lower part of her face. The costume looked self-made, and it’s the same one she’s wearing in the recently released trailer. It’s expected she’ll eventually get a more professional-looking White Tiger outfit, similar to how Matt Murdock received his Daredevil costume as his story progressed.

It’s not surprising to see Angela get involved. At the end of the first season, Matt Murdock said he needed help fighting Mayor Fisk’s task force, so it makes sense she’s joining the team. Now, it will be exciting to see how her story connects to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
