Daniel Radcliffe, known for playing Harry Potter, recently shared that he, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint were once approached about starring in a new version of The Wizard of Oz. The proposed remake would have been a very different take on the classic story.
We’ve been seeing a lot of movie remakes lately, but Hollywood has actually been revisiting old stories for quite a while now.
For every successful movie like Ocean’s Eleven and Casino Royale, there’s a less fortunate remake, such as those of Psycho, The Wicker Man, and Planet of the Apes that critics didn’t like.

Hollywood has explored the backstory of Oz twice—actually, three times if you count both parts of Wicked—with the films Oz the Great and Powerful and the Wicked adaptations.
Meanwhile, Potter itself is getting a remake, although that’s coming to TV rather than cinemas.
