Singer D4vd is now being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles while he awaits trial. He’s accused of murdering and dismembering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, according to the Daily Mail.
Nick Reiner is currently in prison, facing charges for the December murder of his parents, Michele and Rob Reiner.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested last Thursday. This came after the remains of Rivas Hernandez were discovered in the trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke’s address in Texas. The car had been impounded at a tow yard in Hollywood months earlier.
On Monday, Burke’s lawyer formally denied all charges against him, which include first-degree murder, sexually abusing a minor, and dismembering a body.
The next day, TMZ reported that he was moved to the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail and held apart from other inmates because of the attention his case was receiving.
Records show he was transferred to the Twin Towers jail on Wednesday at 5 p.m., as reported by the Daily Mail. His court hearing is scheduled for Thursday, exactly one year after authorities claim Rivas Hernandez was killed.
The Twin Towers jail has held many high-profile individuals, including Harvey Weinstein, Robert Durst, Danny Masterson, Michael Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray, Paris Hilton, and Steve-O.
Burke’s move follows the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report that Rivas Hernandez was stabbed and then cut into pieces.
An autopsy report obtained by the Daily Mail shows Rivas Hernandez died from knife wounds to her liver and chest.
The harrowing report reveals that her ring and pinky finger had also been mutilated.
Rivas Hernandez’s remains were discovered in Burke’s apparently abandoned vehicle on September 8.
The autopsy report revealed the teenager’s head was severely decomposed, with part of her skull exposed and one eye missing. Investigators also found traces of both Benzodiazepines and Methamphetamine in her liver, according to the coroners.
Rivas Hernandez was reported missing by her family in 2024, when she was 13.
According to prosecutors, Burke repeatedly sexually abused her for over a year, starting in September 2023 and continuing until September 2024.
Prosecutors claim the singer, originally from Houston, murdered Rivas Hernandez because she had threatened to reveal their intimate relationship, potentially harming the singer’s growing career.
The teenager’s mother had reported her daughter missing on three separate occasions that year. She explained that her daughter was seeing a boyfriend named David, who she hadn’t had the chance to meet.
The pair were rumored to have shared matching ‘Sshhh’ tattoos on their right index fingers.
The autopsy proved Rivas Hernandez had the tattoo, and photos of Burke show he has an identical one on his finger.
When Rivas Hernandez was killed with a sharp object around April 23, 2025, police considered her a runaway. She was reportedly at a house in the Hollywood Hills belonging to Burke at the time.
Prosecutors allege Burke mutilated her body about two weeks later.
According to the autopsy report, the victim’s arms and legs were found severed and placed in a trash bag underneath her body inside the car’s trunk.
The charges against the suspect include several factors that could qualify the crime for the death penalty, such as planning the murder in advance, being motivated by financial gain, and killing someone who was involved in the investigation. Prosecutors haven’t said yet if they will ask for the death penalty to be applied.
David Burke’s lawyer, Blair Berk, told the court on Monday that the evidence will prove he didn’t kill Celeste Rivas Hernandez. She stated they want to publicly reveal all the evidence in the case.
Berk asked the judge for a public hearing to determine if there’s enough evidence to move forward with a trial, especially since the media has been reporting on the secret grand jury investigation for months.
According to California law, Burke is legally allowed to have his evidentiary hearing within ten days of his initial court appearance, and he’s been firm about keeping to that deadline. Most defendants, however, choose to postpone this hearing.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday.
In September 2025, the remains of Rivas Hernandez were found after authorities impounded a Tesla Model Y in Los Angeles. The vehicle was registered to an address belonging to Burke in Texas.
LAPD officers believe the vehicle had been left on the street for over three days and appeared abandoned.
Workers at the Hollywood tow yard contacted the police because they smelled something awful coming from a car.
According to court records, investigators searching the Tesla discovered a body bag that was covered in insects and smelled strongly of decomposition.
According to court documents, detectives opened the bag slightly and found a decaying head and upper body.
Investigators with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office found the victim’s arms and legs had been cut off from the body after removing the bag, according to court records.
A second black bag was found under the first, and dismembered body parts were inside it.
The coroner found that Rivas Hernandez had been dead in the vehicle for quite some time before anyone discovered it.
When she was found, she was wearing black leggings, a tube top, a yellow bracelet, and stud earrings.
As a local lifestyle observer, I’ve heard from residents that this Tesla wasn’t just abandoned on Bluebird Avenue in the Hollywood Hills – it had actually been moved around the neighborhood several times over the past three months before ending up there. It’s a bit of a mystery, honestly!
In September, the Los Angeles Police Department searched the Hollywood Hills rental home—valued at $20,000 per month—where Burke was living. During the search, officers took possession of a computer.
Burke broke his lease shortly after the raid and moved out of the home.
D4vd (pronounced David) is a musician who’s become popular with Gen Z thanks to his unique sound, which mixes indie rock, R&B, and lo-fi pop. He first gained attention on TikTok in 2022, and his success led to a record deal.
His popularity led to collaborations with stars such as SZA and Kali Uchis.
When the teenager’s body was found, Burke was touring to promote his debut album. That tour was subsequently canceled.
