Although Cyberpunk 2077 had a difficult launch, it continues to be a successful game years later. Now, the developers at CD Projekt Red are primarily working on The Witcher 4 and a follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077, which will keep them busy for quite some time.
I’m still really excited to see CD Projekt Red continuing to support Cyberpunk 2077! They’ve said they probably won’t release any huge expansions like Phantom Liberty again, but they’re still planning improvements. In fact, a new update is coming out tomorrow, and they’re calling it a “serious upgrade” – which is awesome! It’s great they haven’t abandoned the game completely.
You Have A New Excuse To Play Cyberpunk 2077
The official PlayStation Blog announced that a major update for Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to the PS5 Pro on April 8th. This update will introduce new technology and several game modes designed to utilize the PS5 Pro’s powerful hardware, offering a significantly improved experience compared to the game’s initial, troubled console release in 2020.
The blog post says the update will use PlayStation’s PSSR technology to add more detail to the game, much like DLSS does on computers. They’re also improving the ray-tracing, aiming to make the lighting in Night City even more aligned with the developers’ original artistic goals.
As a PS5 gamer, I’m really excited to hear we’ll have options for how the game looks! We can choose between three graphics modes. The ‘Ray Tracing Pro’ mode gives you the absolute best visuals, but it’ll run at around 40 frames per second if you have a TV that supports variable refresh rate, or 30 FPS if you don’t. It’s cool to have that choice!
With Ray Tracing enabled, the game achieves a smooth 60 frames per second, using ray tracing in a balanced way. Performance mode prioritizes speed, reaching up to 90 FPS on displays that support variable refresh rates, but with fewer visual effects.
The PlayStation 5 Pro Just Got Way More Expensive
It’s a bit of a mixed bag with this news. On the one hand, Cyberpunk 2077 is now included with PlayStation Plus, which means more players can try it out. However, the price of the PS5 Pro recently jumped from $750 to $900, so potential buyers might be hesitant to spend that much, especially if they don’t already own the console.
I’ve always enjoyed playing Cyberpunk 2077 on my computer, but I’m glad to see console players getting further improvements. What really makes Cyberpunk 2077 special is how beautiful it is – exploring Night City and taking screenshots can be just as fun as the action-packed combat.
