So, it looks like James Wynn, the crypto trader with a penchant for making high-leverage bets (and losing a shedload of cash in the process), has finally thrown in the towel and deactivated his X social media account. I mean, who needs the constant reminders of their nine-digit losses, right? 🤷♂️
If you try to search for his handle “JamesWynnReal” now, you’ll be greeted with a lovely message saying “This account doesn’t exist. Try searching for another.” Yeah, good luck with that. 👋
According to Arkham Intelligence and Hypurrscan, Wynn’s wallets are now down to a paltry $10,176. I mean, that’s barely enough to cover a decent night out in London, let alone a high-stakes crypto gamble. 💸
Wynn’s claim to fame was making outrageous bets on the Hyperliquid platform, often going against market sentiment and losing hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. Because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to do with your life savings – gamble it all away on a whim. 🤪
In May 2025, Wynn’s $100 million long-BTC positions were liquidated after the price of Bitcoin dipped below $105,000, wiping away 949 BTC from his account. But don’t worry, he was totally aware of the risks… or so he claimed in a now-deleted post:
“I do not follow proper risk management, nor do I claim to be a professional; if anything, I claim to be lucky. I’m effectively gambling, and I stand to lose everything. I strongly advise people against what I’m doing.” 🙅♂️
Of course, that didn’t stop him from opening up another $100 million Bitcoin bet just days later. Because, you know, when you’re on a losing streak, the best thing to do is double down, right? 🤑
Wynn also claimed that his positions were being deliberately targeted by market makers who were attempting to liquidate his bets. Because, you know, it’s always someone else’s fault when you lose. 🙄
He even issued an appeal to the crypto community for donations to fund his account, and at least 24 different addresses sent money to the trader. Because, you know, who doesn’t love a good sob story? 🤑
But despite all the evasive maneuvers, Wynn was unable to keep the large positions and lost well over 99% of the $100 million. Ah, well, at least he tried, right? 😂
